I always take the first two days of the NCAA basketball tournament off to watch all the games. Ends up with lots of couch time, too many soft drinks, too many beers, and too much food. Lot of close games so far. Michigan St game just started. Wish the Wis games wasn't so late. 8:30 is almost bedtime for me. |

1053 | Subject: RE: 30 runs in 30 days - who's with us? #878- 8 mi Usually I'm off of work on Wednesdays, but not this one. #879- 13.1 mi. Skipped out of work early to make up for extra hours from day before, got a 1/2 marathon trail run in. #880- 3.3 mi. Hit a bit of a low today. Knee was killing me and I wasn't up for running out in the snow. I called it after 3.3 then had my daughters knead out my hamstrings with "the stick" for a bit. (6 and 8 years old, they still listen to me, so I may as well take advantage while I can!!!) #881- 20 mi on the road. Totally made up for the terrible run yesterday. Snow was pretty much clear from the roads but looked really pretty caked on everything else. I got hit with a few "tree avalanches" as everything was melting, but it was all good. Did 10 miles at easy pace, then 10 mile progression with last 4 miles at and under marathon pace. Managed my last mile at 6:25 and felt really strong. Was a good run for my confidence. |

I hope your spirits are staying up and you're finding other ways to get in your exercise and burn up some of the dog's energy as well!!! My surgically repaired ankle. Monday - #603 - Swam a quick 1500y before the pool was taken for water aerobics (grrrrr), then ran 4 miles, and after I got home decided to roll 50 minutes on the trainer due to a chocolate shake I had indulged in during the day. |

Regular 1354 Jenison, MI | Subject: RE: 30 runs in 30 days - who's with us? Originally posted by SGirl This thread had the same effect on me. The first time I did it, I never intended to do more than 30 days of running because I was a terrible runner and I just hated it. I wanted to force myself to run more frequently in an attempt to improve. After 30 days, I decided to keep it rolling, and if I remember right, got to somewhere around 70 before a bad calf strain forced me to DNF a race and take a full month off of running. About a month after I got back to running again, I started a new streak to try to get to 100 days, and here I am, at 604 completed days. I'm still not a great runner, and for some reason I just really struggle with distances and don't enjoy the long runs as much as a couple of the others, but it has definitely helped me. 3.25 miles last night I will honestly say, this thread challenge caused me to run more frequently than I might have. I don't normally run everyday...so thank you for starting this up! Tuesday - #604 - 4 miles of speed work intervals...my body is still a bit of a mess from recovering from sickness and everything. I normally jog my recovery intervals, but I was so stiff and tight and beat down that I was *really* working hard to get through each speed interval, so I ended up walking my recoveries. Then I went and swam 1500y in the pool. |

You always had a positive attitude so I am sure you are doing well. Hopefully you'll be back pounding the pavement in no time. I like the fact that you are thinking of starting a new streak the day after you get your cast off. |

I broke my ankle playing basketball a few years ago. I talked to doctor in to an aircast so I could still swim and get some exercise. I would use a pull buoy and just use my arms. Might be something to talk to the doctor about. |

I remember you said you were at least a mile out when it happened, did you call for a ride? Or have to hobble home? And are you going to have the screws and plates removed at some point? |

1053 | Subject: RE: 30 runs in 30 days - who's with us? #882- 2 mi. Went out to Philadelphia with family for the day, Ben Franklin Institute for the kids, and I got to stop off for some wings, crab fries, crab legs, and beer and catch the Kansas/Wichita St. game Needless to say, I took a real easy 2 mile run when I got home. #883- 13.1 mi #884- 8 mi out and back. It seems that my knee really bothers me when I run after work (I'm on my feet all day). #885- 13.1 mi trail. Tough run, slow going, but felt good. I was slower for this 13.1 miles, than I was for my 20 miles on the road a few days ago. Very rocky along the ridge that these trails cross, and very mucky at the bottom. I was either hopping through and along rocks hoping to keep my ankles intact, or trying to keep my shoes from being sucked off my feet in the mud for pretty much the whole run. Was it ideal marathon training? Nope. Was it a whole lot of fun? Yup. With the pictures, there is a trail in there somewhere along the rocks. (Besides the picture of the brook, I just thought it looked nice.) But I'm definitely glad and grateful to the people who have kept it going. I've been at this awhile, and will keep going as long as I can. But like the others who've had life and injury interrupt their streaks, I'd probably be back starting a day 1 as soon as I could. |

The progression run was difficult, but not as tough as any of my other attempts at anything beyond an easy pace since getting the flu a couple weeks ago. |
