Subject: Vineman Half/Barb's Race Run Course

Just got this email from my BF:

I realize this is short notice, but I'm going to do a training run on
the actual Vineman 70.3 course.

If anyone wants to join me, I'm going to be starting from the front
steps of Windsor High School at 9AM. The one-mile section of the run that
goes through La Crema vineyard is not open to the public so I will just be
extending the run out along Laughlin Road to equal the distance - the
conditions are almost identical to the actual run course. Turning
around just past the bridge over the unnamed creek just beyond the
Laughlin/N.

Lauglin intersection makes it almost exactly 13.1 miles. The modified
route can be seen online at http://www.gmaps-pedometer.com/?r=242402.

Please note this is NOT the _exact_ Vineman 70.3 run route; The
actual Vineman route makes a one-mile loop on dirt trails through the La
Crema vineyard, but this is almost identical in distance, grade and
conditions.

I'm planning on finishing the run in 2+ hours (10 minute/mile pace)
so I'm not going to be leaving anyone in the dust.

The weather is expected to be sunny and cool... well, cool for the
Windsor area, at least. It should be in the mid-70s at that time in the
morning,

and push up into the low-80s as the day progresses.

Even though the satalite images don't really show it, the run is very
exposed and there are no places to get water on the entire route.
Make sure you bring lots of sunscreen and water. There are drinking
fountains at the High School (where we will start/finish), and I'll be bringing
a carton of tangerine-flavored Power Gel shots if anyone wants/needs
them.

Anyone who needs or wants directions is welcome to contact me.

Thanks!

If any of you are interested in joining us, send me a PM. If you're coming from out of the area, you're more than welcome to crash at our place tonight, and/or shower afterwards.
