Apparently, you can buy these temporary tats and use them as your markings for the race? Anyone use, like etc? Small size numbers vs. "pro" size larger numbers? Thoughts?

My understanding was that they were marketed to Race Directors, not to individual racers?

They are also marketed directly to racers individually. You can buy packs of numbers, 0-9 (20 of each) to last ou several races for better visibility, easier to retrieve race photos, photo company software "sees " them better, and looks better. Do it yourself night before race, avoid body marking line and greasy mess etc. on their site, they are selling directly to people through site and amazon as well.

Used them recently in a race but they were mandatory, included in race packet. A lot of people messed them up. I had to mark a guy in the hotel lobby morning of the race. They look cool but I have to say they were kind of goopy to get off. They say fingernail polish remover, etc. will take them off but who carries that around. I still prefer a nice, fresh marker but I'm sure these will become the norm. They are big, with an outlined number. You can't mistake it for something else, that's for sure.

they work great- in that you have a bold, clear, easily readable race number on you.

takes about a week of daily scrubbing to get them off.  (granted, I've never tried polish remover or brillo pads- just soap and water in the shower)

REV3 Cedar Point used these these - they looked great.  On the instruction it says to use tape to remove the tattoo, worked great no complaints, except for pulling off the tape

In all of the race packets at Hy-Vee. They work and look great. Directions say rubbing alcohol to take them off. That, a little scrubbing and a few cotton balls later they were off. I wouldn't spend the money to get them though, just not worth it to me.

Rubbing alcohol gets them off easily.  I heard baby oil as well.  Just buy yourself a small bottle of rubbing alcohol at the drug store and you're set.  They really do look nice and are easy to read.  Put them on the night before the race.

Why not just use the number stamps like they do at Kona?

I'm not worried about getting them off, but is it dorky to use them when the race is sharpie numbers? They sell the paks for individuals to use as needed etc.

They do look nice and one of the local RDs around me uses them for their races.  I learned quickly to just use the sharpie on the legs (if you don't shave) - those tri tats don't do well with hairy legs, especially the removal part.

I've only used them at one race (HITS uses them).  I actually really liked them because permanent marker never lasts past the swim for me. Plus they just look nicer. Took a week for them to wear off naturally - they didn't bother me and I work from home, so I didn't try scrubbing them off.

As a competitor, who cares what your body marking looks like?  It's there for race officials to be able to identify you and so you can purchase pictures.

The tats are a PIA to remove - sharpie for me, all the time.  I always body mark myself before I leave home or my hotel room.  Race number on each arm and age on my calf and my sharpie is always in my transition bag to add if they require numbers on the thighs.

Sharpie comes off my skin in about 20 mins.  I don't think I've ever finished a race with legible numbers.

X 2: especially if you are wearing or put on sunscreen of any type.  I may be the MOP goober who tries these and pre-mark myself prior to race day. I never like standing there waiting for the old lady to mark me up and down.

Because I am a tremendous dork, I use them and love them. I will likely never be FOP, but I do everything I can to feel like a racer. Having slightly more "official-looking" numbers gives me a bit of a psychological boost, so I do it when I can. Because I am a tremendous dork.

To answer your question about which to go with, I suppose it depends to a certain extent on your size. My arms would just about fit inside a large Slurpee straw, so I go with the smaller numbers. $.02 from the cheap seats.

One of the races I do used them this year, and I thought they were great.  Volunteers got them on easy peasy, I got them off no sweat with the baby oil that was recommended on the tattoo sheet.  Definitely gave a more professional feel to the event.

I don't think I see myself purchasing them for self-use, however.  Just not my style I guess.

So did the sunscreen that I used for my race last year.

I used them at River Cities recently and loved them. True about them not working that well on hair - as I noticed at the race. They were clean looking, very durable and sunscreen proof. I'd use them again in a heartbeat.

How much do one of those stamps cost?

I could not find something like that online- or what to call it. If you search big number stamps, you get kid stamps. I'm sure an office supply store? If anyone knows what these are, post a link or say where to get them.

I googled "ruber ink single number stamp" and got results for custom stamps.  Something 3x1 inch would cost around $12.  But I'm not sure if you could get something cheaper because the design you are looking for is just a simple number.  I'm sure the price is assuming you will have a custom design more like art work.
