  • 01m 57s / 100 yards
Comments:

I really should have swam more this year. OH Well, maybe next year.
Transition 1
  • 02m 30s
Comments:

All in all not too bad. but as usual the wet suit slowed me down. Not to mention the taking time to wipe off sand. I should have been able to be about 30 seconds faster.
What would you do differently?:

Cut several inches off the legs of the wet suit to make getting out of it a little better.

Stop taking on gel in transition. I can do this while moving forward on the bike and run.

Comments:

All was fine here. Serious head wind on the way out. Huge push on the way back.
Transition 2
  • 01m 30s
Comments:

Pretty ok transition.
What would you do differently?:

Stop drinking and taking on gel at transition.
Run
  • 32m 20s
  • 4.35 miles
  • 07m 26s  min/mile
Comments:

Again I haven't trained too much so I am happy with this.
What would you do differently?:

Train more
Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster:

Not enough training

Event comments:

An outstanding job esp. considering it was a first time event. Bethany Beach was a welcoming community for the event. I will go back.

Considering there was less than 3 minutes between 2nd and 6th place, I will train for shorter faster races as I plan for this race next year. Just improving T-1 and 2 would have probably gotten me on the podium.

Great race Steve, you are speedy!  I really enjoyed the race as well. I was freezing at the start and should have brought some layers. I was looking for you and even told my husband flag down # 333. Sorry I missed ya.

What a nice way to finish off the tri season.

Hey there, I am sorry we didn't catch up somewhere. I am glad you had a good time. I went down to support the police department as my buddy is a Lieutenant there and I haven't caught up with him for a while. I really did enjoy it in every way. The ocean swim was very different. I am a mediocre swimmer on a good day so I was a little nervous. Thankfully it wasn't that bad.

You are right about the cold. I was in a full wet suit and I was cold. I can only imagine how cold some of the people were who swam without. It felt really good to get in the water.

Looks like you have quite a bit of racing yet this year. Best of luck with them. Do you have anything big planned for 2013? I have enjoyed not doing any big races and have nothing at all planned nor next season. I am thinking of a non IM branded 140.6 race though in Jan. 2014 called the Bone Island Tri in Key West. Looks like a great race venue and a nice getaway event with the family mid winter.

Best of luck and train safe!
Steve
