peto_primo - 2012-12-11 2:28 PM Ok, winter doesn't officially start until December 21.  Darren is going to have to start his points over then  Tongue out

And when he still beats us what do we do then??? LOL

The one thing is that we have no control over the weather - just our training!

But he does give me motivation to get out there when it is cold to try and keep him a little scared!

Hey there is a lot of luck in this challenge when it comes to weather. I have been screwed out of tons of points by a degree. We get huge winds but then it is like 3C out, the windchill is still -6C but no points. I have been lucky this year, especially with some serious cold stuff. But that can turn really quick. AND, you can make a lot of points if you get a string of -20 weather, just go out there for a long 4 hour run and BAM.

Oh Darren - snow is on the way (supposedly!)

snow will only get you so far. You need to freeze your behind off.

Winds helped today but not real cold (YET )

I managed -24C today with the windchill it was -31. My wife said I have done colder but I don't remember. That was a chilly run.

Got some good points this weekend with some snow and cold. Below zero weather coming this week should bring more points.

I'm about to head out for a (very short) lunch-time run.  It is presently -17 celcius, with a windchill of -27 (in fehrenheit this translates to 1 degree with a windchill of -17). Hello, points!

Ok, I think I am back now. I had to travel for my mother-in-law's funeral the week before Christmas, then travel again for the week of Christmas. No crappy weather except for the midnight to 4 AM storms we got twice while I slept. During the day it got up into the low 40's and I didn't have a bike with me. I have been sick since we got back to town and this is the 1st day in the last 3 I don't have a fever over 100. I am going to take it easy this week end and hit the pavement on Monday, so everyone better be ready.

Holy Craptastic Cold !

some of you are aliens - running in serious sub zero temps!!! I was thrilled to run in 3 degrees with some wind but after 20 mins I was getting an ice cream headache heading into the wind! haaa!

Darren needs to share some points

Be safe and bring on some snow and cold (but I think we'll see a little warm up in WI in the next few days Into the 30's maybe! Eeeeks!

Nice - be careful out there!

It actually wasn't that bad - I even warmed up to the point that I took my mittens off (briefly).

As always, the hard part was convincing myself to get out the door!

The worst part is that we've had so much snow that all the sidewalks are mushy; it's like running on soft sand (just without the ocean views to go with it).  At least its a good workout!

Hey All!

I know I am a little late getting in the game, but earning points helps me get out the door and that is what I need to do.  Planning on doing a half marathon in March and a full in June.

It was wonderful running in the 21 degree weather this sunny afternoon!

Hope everyone had a great weekend

Now going to take my six year old to the gym to play some basketball.

Nichi

Took my mt bike up to the college to do some brick work on thier outdoor track, which the nicely keep clean in the winter. Didn't realise how weak being sick last week left me until I got off the the bike for a break before my second set. My knees were shaking and I was having a little trouble focusing so I called it a day, loaded up and headed home. Once I showered and got some food into me I was fine but still weak. By the end of the week everyone better be watching out.

Nichi

Was wondering where you were

Welcome back Nichi - how is the knee? (didn't you have a knee problem last winter or there was some injury if I remember correctly)

Thanks, Bill. Glad to be back.  Yes, last year I broke my toe just 2 weeks before I was to run a marathon..ugh.  The knee was the year before, or was it the year before that?  no injuries now, thoughLaughing no points today as it is a balmy 35 degrees here in Iowa today and I am not a winter weather biker....yet!
