Lauren, you still doing ok there?

Had my first "race" this weekend. Rev3 Knoxville, Olympic. With the weather, I wasn't sure about really being able to push myself safely, so backed way off and had a training day. Not really worth writing a report for. 59 water & air temp, and rain the entire day. Awesome seeing the pros out there going at it.

congrats Ben! I'll bet even as a "training" day you prolly tore the course up.

~2:28 with an absolutely massive T1, Z2 bike, and Z2/3 border run (by HR). I could have pushed hard when dry, but wasn't sure with it being wet. Would have wanted some more practice going hard in the wet on such a technical course to make sure I stayed mentally sharp for everything. I could have hit things well most of the time, but have to make them all or you go down hard.

Sorry, I had an insane week at work this past week! Training is going well. Starting the taper. About to head out for a ride on my newly tuned up bike!

I'm feeling really good. At this point I feel like all the "real" training is done so the challenge and focus this week will be managing the effect of work stress on my body. Got a lot of good sleep this weekend.

Did a 2000m open water swim at "race pace" yesterday - about 36 mins so I'm feeling good about that.

I'm excited! It will be slow, hot, and challenging but I'm ready to go!

I am alive!!! Just want to thank everyone for all the encouragement and advice! It was definitely an incredible journey!

It was a long day. I finished just under 6:50. I do not have an official race time as my chip stopped working after T2. I emailed Ironman about that. Hopefully at least the pictures give me a race time.

My swim was 35 minutes and 4th in division so I was happy, especially since I found myself off course twice. Then the entire field passed me on the bike. The run was brutally hot and I am incredibly thankful for the people spraying us down with hoses and the volunteers happily handing me ice. It was 3 loops and it might be good they didn't get my splits because the run deteriorated into a run/walk. The temp was in the 90's so I made sure to drink and stay safe. The bike was about 3:35 and the run somewhere under 2:30 which is shocking for me because I did my first HM this year in 2:15.

I am super sore everywhere today and in total disbelief that I did all that. It went by so fast. The run was so tough in that heat but I didn't really think about it and kept going.

I think what helped is my focus on hydration and salt. I couldn't eat during the run so I took in liquid calories with the ironman perform. I still couldn't eat for hours afterwards besides managing to choke down a banana over the course of a half hour. I sprayed on sunscreen in T1 and T2 and didn't even get burnt, although that could have been the salt deposits on my skin protecting me from the sun

Thank you again for your support!

Thank you both! And thank you, Kate, for thinking of me. You're so sweet.

They got back to me and have posted my results on a different site (???) so I asked when they will be posted on Ironman.com. Official result is 6:49:14.
