Anyone use or have any input on GPS units other than Garmin (for multi-sport usage)? I saw that Timex had what looked like a new one out...

My Garmin got stolen and I am looking to get one, but would rather not spend close to $300!

the Timex Global Trainers are cheap, waterproof, capable.  A bit large- but good looking.  sounds like what you're looking for.

I love my Timex Run Trainer.  It does everything I want it to do when I want it.

And I've have excellent results with Timex support.

I have used my Run Trainer almost every other day for over a year with NO issues.  It takes bout 5 seconds to lock into the satellite, watch face can be user changed to show any desirable info at any given time, charges off my truck lighter plug in, holds a charge for weeks, etc, etc.

Here is a Timex Gobal Trainer cheap  http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=465756&posts=2&start=1

Hope this helps.

The other option is the Polar RCX5, which is fully waterproof, but the GPS is separate (and only water resistant).

It depends if you want something that works with your other gear as POLAR don't use ANT+, so the watch wouldn't work with Garmin /Timex bike sensors or other ANT+ equipmewnt.

The RCX5 is pretty slimline and has a year battery ife so can double as a watch and you cna get the normal stride, bike speed, and cadence sensors.  The polar personal trainer online download is easy but not as useful as garmin connect, but you can use a third party such as Training Peaks.  DC Rainmaker has reviewed all the option and well worth a read.

Is the RC3 GPS waterproof? Can you swim with it?

The timex global trainer has all the bells and whistles of the Garmin 310, for about 129 on Amazon.

My gym recently got Suunto watches.  The display watches looked nice, but I don't know how well they function because the displays were dummy watches.

Resurrecting an old thread here.  Anyone know where I can find a good deal on a Timex Global Trainer?  For some reason, none of my tri or running shops seem to carry it.  Are they still making them?  Need one quick - my HR monitor crapped out and I'd like to replace it with the Timex unit.  Some of the posts on here imply you can find one for $130 or so, but all I see online are prices around $300.
