Four weeks prior to B2B and both are SetUp Events races.  Interesting.

This would be a great first HIM for me, but I have a cruise for a family wedding Sep 13-20. Realistically can't guarantee I will get in my workouts during vacation, but would try to. Would I be able to have an off week of training that soon to the race and not really suffer for it or should I wait for a better time to do a HIM?

I'm pretty sure it will be announced as the "Davidson Half" as its official name.

70.3 is an Ironman brand and I am pretty sure that Setup doesn't want to be associated with Ironman since they don't partner with them to put any on.

IMO Setup may not have the visual bling that Ironman has, but from what I have seen with their new president, he has managed to steer the NC Series through a hard year and looks like he has the brains to react to the market with Raleigh 70.3 as well as make some great decisions with implementing the Setup Cup.

I hope that continues with the visual bling and swag, as it seems they are now getting into partnership with bigger companies such as Rudy project etc. Cant wait for Wednesday for the new season dates.

Having trained a number of days in the Davidson area, this half is going to be a great race. Challenging but rewarding. Love the riding in that area of NC, and exactly 4 weeks from B2B. Bonus. Planning to go back and make peace with those cones on I140. Hit one in 2010 and went down.

Should of been watching the road and not the damn computer.

IMHO, you will have some time to decide to sign up or not.  I would say at least until after the first of the year.  But, with a limit of 500 racers, I could be wrong.......

There are many choices for half iron distance races in Sept/Oct, so it will be interesting to see how the first year of this event goes.

Bummer, i've been looking around for a good first half to do, and this is the perfect one... Except theres only 500 entry slots meaning theres a chance i coukd finish last... This one's out

I had a lot of fun being last in my 1st (and so far, only) Half. I was dead last out of the water, male or female, but had a great time finishing last out of the men.

I am torn about this one.  Yes, it's basically in my backyard, but I just don't like the transition areas being appart and I do not like to long run on gravel to T1. I may still opt to do Augusta instead as warmup for IMFL.

Don't worry about 2 transitions.  It is not that big of a deal.  Set Up has a lot of practice with these types of races since B2B also has 2 transitions.

ETA:  At least one other NCTS race is a split transition race (Over The Mountain?)
