10:00 pm  Packed!  The bike and big suitcase are in the car.  Tomorrow I head off to the Airport at 5:30am on my way to PCB.  See you there!  Hope I've got everything.  Judging by the weight of the suitcase, I do.

I finish packing tomorrow and head that way on Wednesday morning. I can't believe it's here already

Any apps that you would recommend to track you athletes come race day?

This will be my first IM spectating with smart phone. The normal WTC website sucks for athlete tracking on my laptop.

Ditto to this. There is a terrible delay in the ironmanlive tracking. Would like to have something for family traveling to the race to know when exactly to expect me. Rather than my guessing paces

In you have an I Phone Irontrak allows you to track multiple athletes on one page. I don't have an I Phone though.

I do think all apps work off the IM website  which can be slow at times.

Question... if it rains on our bikes all Friday evening, should I try to do a quick cleaning of the chain/drivetrain race morning? or just ride with it as is?

If you regularly lube your chain it won't matter much. I would wipe mine down and maybe apply a tiny amount of lube and especially around the pivot points. I've ridden all year in the rain unfortunately... had my road bike front derailleur freeze up solid from it and had to kick it to get into small chainring each shift on one ride..I had to pull it off bike and work it with lube for an hour to fix. Just give your derailurs a quick check if you've ridden in rain this yr.

I'm at the airport now... layover in Atlanta and then PCB. See y'all on Wednesday.

^^^^^ I agree, rain will not wash lube off chain overnight. I will give chain a good coat of lube prior to dropping it off and no worries from there. I know most folks don't cover their bike overnight, but I got a Rack Jacket for a gift so I might as well use it, but i have ridden in the rain numerous times last month and I have DI2 electronic shifting and I'm not worried about a wet bike at all.

Everyone travel safe and looking forward to seeing folks at the swims, Jim

There are some public bathrooms in the main level of the Boardwalk Beach hotel you could likely change in. Plenty of places to eat and gas stations around or perhaps a BTer staying local will offer up their condo/hotel. We don't get in until after noon Wed. Jasha will be there for Wed swim.

Getting ready to take a nap, jumping in the car tonight with plans to swim at 8am with the group before I pick up my packet and head back home. A few 8 hr drives, lots of time to think about race day. See you all in the morning.

Made it! It's gorgeous here!

I'm in shores of panama about 1/2 mile from swim. Easy walk. If you need a place to change after the swim, and don't mind walking you can use my place.

I think the Ironman crazies have officially invaded my head. I can't think... I am alternating between starving and sick to my stomach. I am excited, I am terrified. Are we there yet? Is it done yet? I have a board meeting tomorrow at work and I already told my boss that I hope no one asks me any questions because I am going to be worthless.

Parking is dog eat dog down there.  If its not race day try parking at the club La vela or at Coccoanut Willies and walking over

Be careful parking along the golf course. They mark it no parking but many cars still park which makes folks think it is okay. They have someone towing cars all day and it is a great money maker for someone at the expense of athletes or spectators.

Before race day you can find parking closer to site than Walmart.

Wednesday swim: 8:00 on the boardwalk close to the ramp leading to the beach on the beach side of Boardwalk hotel.

I invited two young women I met on the beach today to join us. Everyone is welcome.

Ok that was clunky.
wed 8:00. Swim
Boardwalk hotel
On the boardwalk behind the hotel
By the beach ramp
I'll wear a blue BT t shirt

Safest parking: Walmart
Second choice: Pineapple Willies might be ok that early in the morning. I think they open for lunch. It would save you about two blocks of walking.
