She chose 11:20 because I told her I wanted a 11:20 HM (2:29).  That's just an arbitrary # I picked (well, and to go under 2:30).


You don't race a sub 2:30 (or any other time) simply because you decided that you want to do that. You train, you get fitter, you race to your fitness and, if you are fit enough, you achieve your goals.

Just because you think you should run sub 2:30 doesn't mean that you can; instead of chasing an arbitrary pace, train appropriately and let the race be whatever it is.
