For those doing the Disco tri, Dallas Athletes is putting on a pre-tri this Sunday. All it costs is park entry ($10) and they will have kayaks, swim buoys, and aid stations on the run course.

Check out the details:

I'm not sure I can make it, but thought I'd post it anyway.

Hi Chris,

I think you are the Chris in the same Team and Training group....

How are you?

Thanks for the scoop - I will be there. This is like the best notice {{{hugs}}}.

I need to see what 500 yards looks like in murky water and without walls to turn - lol.

Yes, I'm that Chris

I volenteered for the Texas Woman's Tri this past weekend and I swam a bit in the lake after the event. Compared to the one and only other lake swim I've done, the water was pretty clean (I could see my hands fully extended). I also really like not having the walls as it allows me to get into a better rhythm.

The run looks completely shaded on cement park trails through the woods. The bike, however, has quite a few rolling hills with a couple pretty big. I didn't ride it, but it is definately not flat.

I'll be there as well... I hear that the beach is sandy and the swim is one way- from one side of the late to the other. They're suppossed to have a 'beginner only' start too, which is good since this will be my first one.

WOW - did you ride in the Collin Classic?

Those are some nice rolling hills wondering if you can compare the two.. Anyhoo I will there this weekend.  I am nervous and have a lot to learn, and more training to go.

No, I wasn't able to ride the Collin Classic, and I was in my car to see these, so I really can't say how they are.

Also, it looks like I will be there this Sun.

If anyone sees this tonight, jcagg90 is bringing a grill to the pre tri tomorrow.

Feel free to hang out with us (I guess I'll wear my BT tri top) after and bring some goodies to grill.

For the newbies, we tend to congregate around JeepFleeb, he's over 6 feet and has a beard and long hair. Can't miss him.

I'm doing the race, but it's way too far to drive from Dallas to past Denton for the pre-tri

Aaron and I drove from Ft. Worth and it wasn't even an hour! (just one or two exits from Denton) You obviously didn't want to go.

We had a good time. Too bad you didn't want couldn't join us.

yeah, yeah, well really I had to work at 12, so there's a good excuse for you!

So how was the bike course?

I drove up from Dallas so it was only 45 mins. for me. I thought it was very helpful since this will be my first tri. However, my OWS time was horrible. I've OWS trained once a week for the past three in preperation, but I still had a tough time dealing with all of the kicking/hitting/running into each other that goes on. I figured I'd start at the back of the pack or on the side so I can focus on a slow & steady pace so I can make up time on the bike/run.

I actually live in downtown Dallas, and according to Mapquest, it's 64 miles away. I'm planning on leaving at 5ish Sunday morning. Wish they would have kept it at Lake Grapevine like last year.

Well that is a good reason (not an excuse)

The course was good, rollers most of the way but nothing big. I actually found I was keeping a great pace, rolling downhill most of the way out and only 2 or 3 bigger hills on the way in.

Piece of cake compared to BSLT.
