djastroman - 2013-01-10 10:36 AM OK, good news is I received the approval from my insurance to get the MRI.  So hopefully I'll know by tomorrow whether or not I can run Bandera!

It's Friday...when is your appt!?

I've called this morning to see if he read the MRI yet.  Still waiting to hear something!  It's killing me.

GREAT!

Did you ask the ortho what he thinks you should do if it's not broken? Mine told me I could walk the marathon without risk of LIFE CHANGING injury, if it wasn't broken. However, it still meant there was something (inflammation, strain, etc) and I was willing to risk it and recover after said marathon.

OK just got the call.  After looking at the MRI, he doesn't see any sign of a stress fracture.  He said basically the same thing your ortho said, that it was some kind of muscle inflammation or strain most likely from overuse and that I needed to slow it down a bit and not run quite so much.

So that said, I'm running Bandera 100K tomorrow! yeehaw!

I'll let you all know how it goes and how I feel afterwards.  Hopefully 3 weeks later I'll be running my first 100 at Rocky.

Thanks for all your help!

GREAT! Now you can go into them knowing you won't do MAJOR permanent damage to yourself. Lets us know how Bandera goes and hopefully see you at RR! Try to take it easy this weekend, so you can make it to RR! good luck!

Made it! 16:27 I think. Got my first buckle so I'm super happy. And my quad didn't hurt! I think I just needed some time off my legs

If your quad held up yesterday for the hills and ten pounds of mud on each shoe on the flat sections, you should be good to go for RR! With the mud and the warmer temps for most of the day, I thought it was a pretty tough race, and I was just there for the 50k. Nice job!

Thanks man! Bandera is a super tough course, and the mud didn't help any! My hokas were like bricks. Switched to peregrines on 2nd loop and they were better. And congrats on your run too! 50k out there is no joke, like 50m anywhere else.I'm feeling more confident about rocky now. Huge mental hurdles yesterday. I must have quit 16 times during the first loop. Thank god my wife kicked my butt at the lodge and got me back out there!
