I've had a not too productive week on the workout end.  It is spring break so my routine got messed up.  And it turns out, I really need routine to get motivated for my workouts.  Maybe if I never really settled into a routine schedule that would help.

I plan on a good swim today.  A nice run tomorrow.  Sunday I plan on joining a group of over 40 women for a ride.  1st time I will have done this.  Weather is forecast for rain but hoping it will hold off.  I really don't have good cycling rain gear.

Because it happens all the time Hilde! I'm probably the most masculine female a lot of people will ever meet. I get called sir a lot more than ma'am. I'm tall, broad shouldered, muscular with a flattop haircut. Shad is a shortened version of Shadow, a nicknamed I picked up while in the Army. It's all good. I don't care what anyone calls me as long as they don't call me late for dinner! :-)

Got in a nice 20 mile leg stretcher on the bike today. Rode with a friend from our Masters swim group. Nice easy 14 mph pace. Tomorrow is a 7 mile tempo run. Happy Training Beasties!!

Happy Tuesday!

I hope everyone is doing well.  I feel refocused and energized after a group ride on Sunday.  Just 3 of us but it was fun.  Some hard riding mixed in with some chatting speeds.

I hope to get in a 6 mile run at lunch.  Got in the office early to help make this happen.

Thank you everyone, for all your wonderful inspires... I go in for the surgery at 2:30 this afternoon, and of course I'm a bit nervous.  I just want this OVER with so I can start healing!!  I did the procedure to mark the sentinel  lymph node yesterday, ouch, that $h!t stung BAD...  I asked the doc who did the injection if it would be okay if I went for a run this morning since my surgery wasn't till late, he pretty much said, "No, that's an unual request...", yeah, I bet!  So I'm going to opt on the side of caution and just hang out.  I considered only taking a half day off school and going in this morning, but glad I didn't because day care called and cancelled this morning so they can disinfect the place, lots of contagious stuff going around.  Daughter about had a melt down wondering what she was going to do, so I said I would keep Kane (baby is with DB Daddy for the day) since I'm just hanging out waiting anyway. Hopefully it will keep my mind off NOT EATING OR DRINKING until then... I'm drinking my one cup of black coffee and will be able to have about 6 oz more of clear liquids before 10:30.  I'll post on my blog after I get home this evening.... if I'm really out of it and hurting, maybe not till tomorrow, so don't worry....  love you all....

Had a 7 mile run planned this morning. Cancelled due to rain. Taking my Mama for dental work then try to squeeze in a few patients this afternoon. If time permits I will run tonight. Welcome to Ironman training in the real world! Sending out good mojo to Hilde today for her surgery! Happy Training Beasties!

I ran and did strength training yesterday.  This evening I'm going on an "Owl Prowl" with the birthday boy, my 8yr old son.  Then tomorrow we "run" a 5K.

So glad to see how well you are all doing in your training... there are a few that seem to have disappeared... if something has come up, PLEASE try to let me know!!  I understand life happening and having to take a break for whatever reason.

I'm healing well, and feeling better each day.  I posted a pic on my blog, it should be a sunscreen ad!  Still just sore enough not to even THINK about doing any kind of training, ha ha!

Hello Beasts,I've had a not very good training week. Last week was decent but my schedule is out of whack and being the creature of habit that I am...it's hard to get motivated when things to a bit awry.I'll get my bike commute in today and maybe even a run.My first tri is just over 4 weeks away and I'm not feeling very prepared. Got to focus, focus, focus!Hope all is well with everyone!

I'm excited to say that we are most likely adopting a new dog tomorrow.  Our previous dog, Annie, died last June of cancer.

Here are Annie's photos.

If we do adopt I'll post a photo of our new dog this weekend.

She looks lovely, Andrea!  I'm sure she will love her new home.

My dog, Mickey, is now 16+ years olds.  He is deaf and kind of walks around the house like Eeyore.  You can tell he's really starting to age quicker month by month.  He's been my shadow since he was little.

Andrea, she's a beauty, has golden eyes like my boy dog, Chase, they'd make beautiful puppies together, ha ha!

Melanie, it is so hard to see our dogs age and know the time is going to come when they are gone, they bring so much to our lives and leave such a hole in our hearts when they pass.  Hope your doggie can hang on a little longer for you... and I totally get the Eeyore picture, my daughter played Winnie the Pooh over and over and over and over when she was little and I can still hear Eeyore talking, ha ha!

Here's Misty.  She's very calm and gentle.

We lost our beloved pit bull mix Shadow,to cancer last November. A month later fate put our white pit bull puppy,Emmylou in our path and in our heart. What a beautiful girl Misty is! What a wonderful way to honor Annie's memory and continue the chain of love.

Best danged news I've seen all day, gang: cancer-free and new puppies!! LOVE it! I'm in CT, where I admit I have been for the past 2 weeks: turns out looking at manuscripts and training for IM is an exhausting combination-- I get home, eat dinner, chat for a bit with my sis, then crash. (Ah, the glamorous life...) Will update logs tomorrow, but am delighted to log in and see good news on an otherwise tough day-- hope everyone is well and that all of your loved ones are well and safe... Cheers and hugs for you all, Alex

I was at my computer yesterday when the first reports about the explosions in Boston started coming out, it just made me sick to my stomach.  Why target runners and their observers?  Just a huge, WHY?  I can't understand what would make someone want to do that... my heart is with all the victims and their families and the town of Boston....

x2.  Terrible day.

We were on our way back from a college campus visit (VA Tech) and were meeting my other daughter for dinner @ James Madison University when we heard the news.  Hard to understand how the brain can be so wonderfully brilliant and caring in some and so cold and evil in others.
