Just speculating, but I wonder if WTC is considering the Lawrence Tri as their 5150 date (that is if they are even continuing the series)? This past year, the Lawrence Tri did not line up on the same date as any other 5150 events. We know that they are not averse to "taking over" an existing event. Same RD as previous 5150 and the timing would be more KC-area friendly as it would not conflict with KC Tri. Perhaps Silverback did Lawrence Tri last year as a bit of a "test run" to study registrations, interest, execution strategy, etc. Just a thought. (or maybe it's a hope as I think many would like to do KC Tri AND a local 5150 event). The fact that the Lawrence Tri seemed to kind of appear out of nowhere after the KC Tri cancellation debacle and seemed to be fed by the free registration offer makes me wonder about the longer term business strategy

I would love this. I did the sprint there this year and loved it. Roads were smooth, simple out and back, and the OLY gets the hillier stretch heading south along the IMKS course. Plus, no conflicts, other than being a week after SMP.

I would like to do the 5150, if they have it, only to get my ticket punched for HyVee. I know I could go do the AG race at HyVee but racing against only fast people (way faster most of the time) is fun. I would love it to be later in the season though- weather can be a little "iffy in May if we have a cold spring.

Yesterday Kansas 5150 posted on Face Book that they would be making a anouncement soon about next years race for those that are interested.

That usually means in a week or two.

Yeah, the timing of that one was quite interesting. Yesterday morning I sent an email to 5150 Athlete Services stating my concern about the lack of info. I also told them the date of the K.C. tri and mentioned what happened last year etc. Then, an hour or two later their FB page came out with that little blip. I also asked when the St. Louis race would be.

We'll see what they come back with.

11/14 "Triathletes! Stay tuned for news on the 2014 race!"

1 week since said announcement, and you called it...nothing yet.

Looks like July 20th is the date. I think that was the same weekend the Midwest Mayhem Tri used to be.

That is great news. That fits perfectly in my (tentative) schedule. I'm so glad that the two groups decided not to butt heads again. I hope they both pick up some business as a result.

Bummer, I already have a out of area race planned for July 20th. Looks like I will need a different 5150 race to qualify for a free Hy-Vee entry.

I emailed Ultramax last week to see if they knew when the St Louis 5150 would be, they replied stating the schedule's still being worked out.

On the north side of the lake, like last year's 5150 (and IMKS). I was hoping it would be on the South side of the lake, like the Lawrence Triathlon last year. Should still be a nice race, but same course 1 month after IMKS is kind of a downer...
