Subject: Wide Cycling Shoes?

My feet are long and wide.  This is an issue when shopping for cycling shoes.

Need a 48 wide, but can't seem to find any on the interwebs anywhere and my LBS raised eyebrows when I asked them.

I've spent the last 3 or 4 years choking my poor feet.  My shoes are toast and I don't want to buy ANOTHER pair that squeezes me too tight.

Anyone out there know where I can find some relief?

I am in the same boat. I know shimano makes wide road shoes. I typed in "shimano wide road shoes" in amazon and a few shoes came up (model sh-r087). I am awaiting a pair of Mavic's from my lbs that supposedly come in wide as well, but I have yet to see them. They are out there though.

I have to say good luck. My husband is a 13-14 Wide (so in the upper 40s I guess) and has tried several times to get wide enough shoes.  He just tried a pair of the wide Shimanos after waiting about 6-8 months for back order - no dice.    I would just keep trying things on and if something works, buy two.

I wear a New Balance 12-4E running shoe and I have had pretty good luck with the Sidi Mega sizing, also Carnacs and Northwaves, they both run pretty wide for stock sizing. For those of us with hobbit feet the choices are pretty limited. If those don't work d2 and Rocket7 make sweet customs, expensive but oh so comfy. Good luck!

I've had luck with the Sidi mega. Nice, wide toe box.
Best of luck.

I got a bit of a gift for my recent birthday.  Dear ol' mom was willing to buy any cycling shoes I picked out.  Truthfully, I tried on cheaper pairs, but wound up getting the Specialized S-Works Trivent size 48.  Over the past year, my LG Tri Lites were pinching on my 2 outer toes and they'd go numb after 15-20 miles.  Normally, I wear size 13-wide shoes.

Interestingly, the size 48 trivents are a hair big on me.  The 47's were too tight, so I'm sticking with the 48's and wearing socks on long rides.  The bonus is that they match my bike, but that's secondary.  They have a 'cut out' along the top that helps them from being too tight.

I did a 32 mile ride yesterday as one of my first to break them and the new cleats in and it went well.  No issues around numb toes that weren't weather related -- it was about 42 degrees/windchill of about 32.

At least with 12 4E there is hope...

How about a 9 4E?  Yes I wear shoeboxes.  The NB 1080v3 is my running shoe but I haven't found a cycling shoe yet.     I used to wear the old leather shoes with cleats and straps and you could find a wide shoe.   These modern shoes seem to be in line with the modern saddles... Both designed to give you a pain in the .

... So if anyone knows where to find a 42 in extra wide I'd really appreaciate the url.

thanks,

robert
