Thought that was a bit curious placement by Setup. Could not have been an oversight could it? Thoughts?

I don't think it was an oversight. I would think it was to directly compete with Augusta. The popularity of Augusta would not have gone unnoticed and because it sells out, Charlotte is a decent alternative.

Possible cons: 1. Charlotte has the two transition lay-out, different locations for T1 and T2. A logistics PITA. 2. The swim is in a lake so no current to help those along like the Savannah river.

Pros: 1. it is waaaay cheaper. 2. Charlotte will probably be a smaller race (but lacks the downtown Augusta type crowd support.)

With that being said, I would consider Charlotte first. And now that I know it exists, may consider the Aquabike event.

If you're doing it, jump on the hotel reservation right now.  There's a $90+ tax Hampton Inn 2 miles from the finish which has not jacked their rates yet.  Once they realize there's an event, they'll raise the rate and require a 2 night minimum.
