Pre-race routine:

The race was 15 minutes from my house. Coffee, Hammer bar, and drive!
Event warmup:

None. Kinda chilled out and kept warm.
Run
  • 50m 5s
  • 5.59 miles
  • 08m 58s  min/mile
Comments:

It was my first trail race and it was a blast. Crowded on the first 2 miles, then it thinned out almost to not being able to see anybody in front or behind.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing really other than to check out the course profile online before I did it. I did not realize it was all uphill (slowly uphill) for the first 1 1/2 miles.
Post race
Warm down:

Just stopped and drank some Gatorade and had a tofu breakfast burrito.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

My hills needed work as I slowed down incredibly going uphill and was feeling myself "put on the brakes" going downhill as well. I need to learn to improve both.

Event comments:

Really fun. A really chilled out atmosphere with 27K and 50K runners out there as well. I will do another one when I can fit it in my training.
