Get on ETSY and buy a custom dog tag, just like we wear in the military.  I wear it around my neck when I am out and it has my name, blood type, and my wife's name and phone number.  They cost a couple of bucks so when emergency contact info changes it isn't a big deal.  Last one I bought after we changed cell numbers cost me about $5 total.  Much cheaper than a RoadID.

Livestrong type bracelet with two numbers on it. My kids all have them for international travel when we are in different parts of planes, airports, etc. Never had to actually use them.

A sharpie marker on skin works well too, if you are even cheaper than me!

Edit- Every time I've ordered from them they've actually sent us 4 of each bracelet instead of the two you pay for.

Good idea - I have a RoadID, but I think I'll add this as a back-up.

For those of you who carry phones, I have my PIN protected, but I've got the screen set up to display the same basic info as my RoadID (Name, ICE info, allergy info).  Nice backup since I may not always have my RoadID on.

Well, I will say, thanks for this.  I keep putting off getting a Road ID, I guess it's because I'm always paralyzed by a number of equally good choices: the permanent one or the one where people can call a number to get your info?  What color of bracelet?  Was the coupon in my latest swag bag really the best coupon ever or will there be another one?

Color doesn't matter, having it does. (Although red is always faster). Found out the hard way this past summer that it's worth every penny. I got the one with all the online information, this way there's several contacts and medical information available.
