Subject: ISM Adamo Typhoon Saddle To Bulky??

I cant decided which to pull the trigger on: The ISM Adamo Typhoon or the Adamo Time Trial.  I am 5"11 205lbs.  I still have the stock saddle on my bike right now, but I am looking for something a bit more comfortable. Yes, i have a good pair of biking shorts, and I was fitted for my ride. Pro's and Con's of both??

Thoughts everyone??

Can't help with those two.  I have had the Race saddle since early 07, IIRC they only had 3 or 4 saddles in the lineup back then!  One of our LBS has demo ISM seats in house; Race, Road and the Typhoon.  Take a look around to see if any of your LBS are an ISM dealer and have demo seats to try out.  I went the demo route and liked it so much I bought one.

BTW, I can't stand biking shorts, all my riding is done with tri shorts/suits/bibs on a tri-bike.

Thanks for the info.. I am going to shop around this weekend and try to find a demo... I have been looking at the race saddle as well.. Some of the review's i have read mention that people dont feel as stable on the ISM saddles because the front is cut so short... Have you ever felt that??

X2 on the trial.  Most LBS have a loaner program of some sort.

I went with the typhoon.  I don't know what you mean by too bulky, too wide, too heavy?  I'm not sure.  I know that is the one I found the most comfort on and too this day consider it one of the best, if not the best, tri gear investment I've made.  Just FYI I am 6'3" now 206, but was about 245 when I got the saddle.

Hope this helps.

I have the race saddle and absolutely love it.  I haven't noticed anything with stability, of course my first ride on it coincided with my first time riding a tri bike at all, so instability comes with the territory. However, I've never ridding on such a comfortable saddle.

Never, in fact it feels perfectly natural when seated as shown in their diagram below.

I only went with the race because I was being a weight weenie at the time.  Today I'd probably go Road for a bit more padding for when I do sit upright.

Thank's everyone I really appreciate all of the good info.. I think I have pushed the TT out, now it just up to the Typhoon or the road.. I talked to my LBS and they have a few I can demo.. I am in Cincinnati so I am hoping to get a few warmer days to get out and try it.. What are your thoughts of doing the demo in the trainer?? Do you think i can get a good feel for it in the trainer??

I just purchased the Race for my new TT bike. I have only ridden it a half dozen times on the trainer, but I have been very impressed. I was a Fizik fan, but last season started having comfort issues, moved to Prologo, which I use on my road bike, but took the leap to the Adamo. I chose the race because of the lower profile and less weight.

Good luck.

I'm never as comfortable on the trainer as I am on out on the road.

Sunday doesn't look bad for you!

I have the Typhoon on my road bike and the Road on my Tri bike...

I can only say that I first bought the Road saddle and tried and tried and tried to like it, I knew it was something going in the right direction with the tuning fork style, but it just never 'broke in'. I bought the Typhoon and BAM! never felt that 'break in pain' again and I've taken that saddle on a 7 day, 500 mile ride.

I have the Road on my tri bike because I am just too lazy to buy another Typhoon and in general I like the width of the Road, it's technically supposed to fit my sitz bones better. But, I don't think they make one the width of the Road, but the paddedness of the Typhoon. I really want to try a Prologue, TBH.. someday!

I have a prologue on my tri bike and the typhoon on my road bike.  The prologue is a bit more narrow but accommodates the aero postition a bit better.  I find the typhoon is a bit more comfortable for longer distances.  As far as being bulky or wide you will find that it does rub the inside of your thighs more than a traditional saddle, but that is something that you get used to.

My LBS has the Typhoon for demo, but it is out for demo right now.. I am on the list to get it next and really excited to give it a try..How many miles do you think i need to put on it to get a true feel for it?? Sorry for all the questions, but this is the first time for me buying a new saddle.
