I'd like to think I have a pretty well balanced diet, although I do enjoy my sweets Anyway I was wondering, who is taking vitamin supplements? What do you take and have you found it has made a difference in your training? Abbie

On my doctor's recommendation, I take a Centrum Silver multi-vitamin everyday for two primary reasons: 1.) I'm old (53), and 2.) I'm also on Coumadin anti-coagulant and the Centrum Silver has a lower % of Vitamin K than regular Centrum.  Vitamin K counter-acts the anti-coagulation effects of Coumadin.

I can't say that I can claim any direct benefit to my training, but I have been relatively healthy and illness-free for the past five years since I've been taking the Centrum.

This is what I take and how I take it, and the reasons why:

Daily: One multivitamin that contains a higher percentage of minerals then your typical over the counter daily vitamin. If I can find the name I will post it.

I take 1000 mg of potassium spread out over 5 does daily.

I take 1000 mg of vitamin C, because my workouts tend to cause my system to be very susceptible to illness (minor colds and what not). I take this in powder form because I have a hard time with the pills - it makes my tummy hurt

I take the potassium becuase I do alot of my training in the heat and humidity, and I cramp up alot if I dont keep my mineral levels high.

I am suffering through a small hamstring thing now, so I am also taking ibuprofen in the morrning and at night.

Has it made a difference? Yes, especially the potassium use. I would cramp up alot on my bricks, especially in my calfs.

I started taking Nutrilite Double X diatary supplement about a month ago. It is a multivitamin, multimineral, and phytonutrient supplement. I also take a concentrated fruits and vegetables supplement because I don't think I eat enough fresh fruits and veggies as well as fish oil capsules because I hardly ever eat fish. After the first day of taking these supplements, I felt like I had more energy. I was always dead tired by the time lunch came around but now I feel great! I know this sounds like an infomercial or something but they really work. Everyone in my family takes Double X now and they have had the same results.

I take 500mg of vitamin C daily to help keep my immune system up and I also take vitamin E supplements (a good antioxidant) and Omega 3.

I would say that vitamin C supplementation has helped me as before I started taking it I was regularly getting bad coughs and flu like symptoms but I have not been ill ages now. It could be just coincidence of course.

The vitamin E and Omega 3 are more likely to help me long term so I may as well take them.

I take 1 Centurum daily.  Not to help training, but because I know I probably don't eat enough veggies.

I take a lot of preventative stuff:

Glucosamine/Chondroitin for my joints (Lord knows, we triathletes are hard on those.)

Fish/Salmon Oil also for my joints.

1000mg Vitamin C daily.

2 Alleve daily (sometimes I don't think I could make it through the day without 'em!)
