Subject: How to post a picture on BT?
I need help learning how to post pictures here on BT. I have an iphone 5 and MacBookPro. I want to take a picture with my iphone and post the picture on BT.  Obviously I am old and tech challenged so very simple step by step directions / instructions are much appreciated. Thank you in advance for helping me.

Unfortunately it's a very "kloogy" process here on BT to post pictures with a PC and I suspect even worse trying to do so mobile.  In fact, I haven't figured out any easy way to post via my iPhone and I am dying to hear how others do it.

You need to have the picture hosted elsewhere - I use flickr.  They have an iPhone app, so you can upload your iPhone pic straight from there.  You'll then need to find the link from whatever site you use.  From there, you can click the little "tree" icon in the forums or blog and paste the link in.  I'm not sure if you can do that from you phone - I'd stick to the computer for that part.

Hope this helps.

If you're trying to post a pic to a thread reply ... look at the lower left bottom of the reply form.  You'll see the check box labeled "Attach a file after posting".  Click in the checkbox and you can load a pic to your reply from this.

Ron---Sorry for not being clear.  I would like to post pictures in a forum post. I would like to take a picture with my iphone and post that picture in a forum post. Some times I am trying to explain how to do something like rigging a headphone cord so it does not bounce and a picture showing how to do it would be so much clearer for someone to understand.

Thank you for helping me.

We do have a 'attach a file' after posting.  That includes pictures (perhaps some nomenclature needs changed)...see if that works.

With the "Attach a file after posting" button doesnt the file size need to be quite small?  Most smartphone photos will exceed this limit.  The photo will need to be resized first.

Ron----Thank you for the help sir.

Maybe I should have titled this thread: "How to post a picture on BT forum reply for DUMMIES", because I am still stupid about how to post a picture.  I now know that posting to forum is possible using the "attach file" button and that my picture may need to be "resized".  So, how do I get my iphone picture to a file please?

Thanks and I'm sorry that I am so computer challenged

Yes, that would be one of the many "kloogy" features of picture upload on BT.  And the whole idea of having to reference the URL is also kloogy.

If there is an app for photo resizing (and Im sure there is, theres an app for everything else), you could use that to reduce the images file size to less than 100kb, then "attach file after posting" of the new image file.

Or upload the pic to an image hosting site such as flickr, photobucket, tinypic etc (some of these might have an app to make it easier but Im not sure).  The image hoster will give you a url to share the picture, then you have to paste that url into BT somehow, that bit im not quite sure of because Ive never done it before.

Is there a way to resize a pic on a PC vs. going out to a hosting site to set it all up?  I don't want to do the latter just to post one pic on BT...I saved the Jpeg to my C: drive but the file size is 1.42MB and I'm not seeing options to resize...

I actually wanted to post two pics, is the 100 limit each or total??

I'm technologically challenged...

It's per picture.  IMO there should be no limit on picture size in today's world of dirt cheap, fast storage options available.  People shouldn't have to waste time resizing photos to fit some prescribed limit.  I know several people who simply don't post pictures because of that roadblock.  It's a shame it has to be that way.

To make it doubly frustrating, you have to click submit in order to get to the photo attaching screen and whether you're successful or not at uploading, the thread is now out there...Seems to me you shouldn't have to click submit until after viewing the photo..

Now I've got a thread out there with no pics...

This may not be the only or quickest way, but its the way I've been doing it.

Right click on the photo and choose 'edit'.  By default this opens it up in paint.  Using the toolbar at the top there should be a 'resize' option.  Then use guesstimation to reduce the picture to a size where the file is less than 100kb.  Use 'save as' so as not to overwrite your original high quality image.

Thanks, although I don't know it was a success as the resolution is bad...I'm just happy to post a couple as "bike porn" loses it's zeal when there's no porn...
