Subject: Help me understand swim workout lingo
I'm following a Dave Scott swim workout program (instead of just hopping in the pool and swimming non stop). There is some lingo that I is unfamiliar to me. I've scanned through a few upcoming workouts and here's a few sets or terms that I am confused by:

"1st set – 16 x 25 with pads, set elbow, rest interval 10 seconds"

I don't know what "pads and set elbow" mean.

"Warm up – 100 tennis balls + 100 right hand paddle + 100 left hand paddle + 100 freestyle
1st set – 6 x 50 descend 1-3 & 4-6, rest interval 10 seconds"

I assume this one means a 100 set with a paddle in the right hand, and then 100 with paddle on left hand (never heard of just using 1 paddle). Not sure what 1-3 and 4-6 mean.

I assume pads = paddles but I've never heard it referred to that way.  Setting your elbow is working on a early vertical forearm, basically ensuring you don't lead with your elbow.

Descend 1-3 & 4-6 means you get a little faster each time.  So #1 might be 50 seconds, #2 at 48 and #3 at 46 with 10 seconds between then.  Then you go back to 50 for #4 and repeat.
