We have a group signed up to do the Texas Independence Relay March 23-24.  We have a couple of open slots.  If anyone is interested, send let me know.

Our group is varied - I think right now we are all over 40, but we don't have to stay that way.  Paces range from 7:30 - 12:00 mm.  We are in this for fun.

I have never done a relay like this. but thought this looks interesting.

How big is your team, how many miles does each runner need to cover?

What else should I know?

Might run this idea by my coach and my wife...

Let me know the dates.  I might be interested.  Seems like a great cause.  Don from SA is a good person, but I think I can out run him.

I can do a 10k.  Around 800 min miles. If Don is around 750 min miles.

Oh no, I am a tortoise, on a 10K I'm between 8:30 and 9:00 depending on the terrain.  Our team motto is "we're not the fastest, we're the funnest"

Race is Mar. 23 and 24

Sorry for the late responses.  I was out of town last week for a few days.

We could still use a couple more people if interested.  Our team name is Do It Like It Means Something.  We start at 6:30am.  EARLY.  Right now we only have 8 people.

Cost would be registration fee, plus if you can pay a portion of the rental van.  I think we are going with one regular vehicle and one rental van (for the "rest" van so people can stretch out).  And then of course, whatever food/drinks, etc. you need for the run.

Our team is in it to have fun.  We do have a fast member on the team, but most runners are 10-12mm pace.

Send me a message if interested so that I see it on here and can respond quicker.  The race is this weekend.  March 23-34.

We watched y'all start then we went at 6:38. I was on #applesrockTIR. We had a team of 11 teachers and one retired run the race. I thought it would be ho hum, but I actually enjoyed the challenge, but I will say the finish does not feel as good as an ironman.

I thought that finish felt pretty good. Let's see how it compares to HIM or IM (once I complete those...)

If you liked the finish of this race you will to be able to control your emotions of an IM or HIM. This is the first race that I enjoyed running more than the actual finish. I enjoyed the challenge of running hard each leg I did, and when I was done running it was ho hum.

This was by far the best race experience I've had in my short racing career.  But as Patrick said it was from running the legs, cheering on team mates, and the camaraderie of it all.  The finish was a lot of fun, and it was a great sense of accomplishment, but I expect more at my HIM and IM finishes.

Our team was SOTA running club and we were made up of 4 decades of runners connected generationally through the Corps of Cadets at Texas A&M.  It was a whole lot of fun for sure, we're already planning for next year.

Can you believe that winning team smoking the course with an average of 5:58 min/miles?  Awesome.

I am a bit suspicious about the time of the winning team...

Interesting perspectives.  Having done this and an IM, to me they don't compare.  This was a team event and I got a sense of accomplishment from completing my legs and cheering on other teammates and teams.  IM is all about individual effort.  I got emotional at the finish of both my IMs.  I didn't get emotional at the finish of TIR other than "hallelujah it's over! - now maybe I can get some sleep"

Very cool about the team with the Corps connection.  I'm class of '92!

By the way, I did have a blast doing the TIR and would do it again.  Tim joined our team off of this post and we had a blast with him in our van.  ANNNDDDD, we really appreciated his speedy running times.

Hey Gig 'Em.  Class of '97 here.  We had runners from the class of '89 to the class of '11
