If I'm out drinking or have something, my rule is 1 glass of alcohol followed by a glass of water. Keeps me hydrated and keeps me from drinking too much because I'll be fuller. Not always the most fun choice, but keeps me healthier.

Yes are you buying? I like my microbrews Mac & Jacks african amber is probably my favorite. Full Sail is really good too.

I've been trying to cut back on consumption of it because I know it affects my training.

kziemer - 2013-03-12 12:16 PM Pedialyte works like a charm.

Oh god but it tastes AWFUL! I had a sip of some of my kid's drink and I felt like a terrible parent !

Yea, grape gatoraid is the better option. It's gotten my kids through many bouts of the flu. Probably because they will actually drink it.

If I drink too much whiskey, which is all I drink, then my training is usually shot the next day. The problem is I don't drink much anymore, so when I do, it's all too much. Sometiems, though, it's totally worth it.

Both of us race tri's/du's/road/running races, etc. and we collect wine... So yes, we do drink wine fairly often. If we have a big race coming up, we might skip the wine the week before the race, just to ensure proper hydration (it will dehydrate you no matter how much water you drink).

chrismcturnan - 2013-03-12 10:55 AM I like to drink..simple as that.  But why on Earth does it take me an entire week to recover.

I recommend you continue drinking, but just add more water into your daily diet.  Trust me.....You CAN have the best of both worlds regardless of the naysayers.

How much are you drinking?!

I can drink a glass or two of wine and be fine the next morning.

Amen, my gym even serves draft beer. Cant say ive never had days ruined by the previous night though, but its normally when I mix beer and liquor.

Nothing like a good 5 mile run to sweat out the hangover. Thats what you learn in the Army.

I've been that guy at a 5 mile run on a Sunday morning at 7AM and smelled myself.  I'm sure the others around me were totally grossed out by how much I reeked of day old booze but you have a pool party on a Saturday night and a race scheduled you have to make the best of both.  I made it without puking.

Nothing works the day after.  Water, coffee, tylenol, gatorade all help "a little".  100% agree with the others that said drinking water while you're drinking is the best preventative.  1 beer, 1 water, 1 beer, 1 water etc.  Keeps you hydrated and slows the rate of the beer intake.
