I'm new to the Phoenix area (moved last Aug.) and I would like to do some triathlons this season. I have my sites on one half Ironman in Oct., Soma. I would like to do a few sprint and Oly ones too. Anyone know or recommend some good local races?? I have been on trifinder but I would like some opinions on fun, well organized races.

Tom pretty well covered it - one additional suggestion would be to check out the races put on by Tri Family Racing. Lots of pool sprints that are beginner friendly. Tri Family also does the Bartlett Lake Tri.

Deuces Wild in Show Low is an awesome weekend of triathlon. It's a nice break from the heat too, the first weekend in June:

You can also check Four Peaks Racing site for swim only and splash n dash races, which typically are scheduled a week before the bigger races in town, at the same swim location (a glorified practice swim).

    • Something is going on with this race organizer.  They have sold off most of their events and seem to have no multi-sport on the current calendar.

The people that took over the open water swim series (HUB Event Productions) are great folks and it's now part of http://www.azopenwater.com.  Tempe Town Lake, Lake Pleasant, Canyon Lake and I believe they are working on others.

Thank you all so much! I'm going to do the open water swim race next weekend 4/7 and then plug in a few races after that. I also joined First Wave Tri Club and hope to meet some people to train with.

Thanks again!!
