Any one here doing this as well? My co-worker and I are doing the 30 mile route. If you are doing this and a similar route, we'd love to have company!

Big welcome to BT, Eric! Always a treat to have another Houstonian.

What date is the event?

Here's the link.  Sounds interesting, but only at 30 miles.  I don't think that I am quite ready for a century ride.

July 16th 7am start

Yeah they have a 30, 50, 62, and 100 miles rides. Me and the co-worker are only doing the 30. I'd prolly be able to do more, but I'm currently riding a all steel hardtail mountain bike with street tires. Yeah we're talking in the 35lb range here. But you know when i get the road bike, it's all going to be SWEET!

So yeah, if any one want to meet up..shout out!

And yeah I'm pretty new here, so it would be nice to meet some people.

Just an update about this:
So last weekend went and had a pretty good time. Since I got there pretty early I didn't have any problems with traffic or the road construction on I-10 right at the Katy exit.

Meet up with my co-worker and we dilly dallied around for about an hour before they started sending people out. And there were a lot! Maybe almost 3k in attendence. Pretty well run too. We finally got going and it was pretty good. About a mile out of the parking lot though there was a huge bike pile up, easily 15 people on the side of the road holding various body parts. Later we saw 2 ambulances driving by us at different parts of the route. Wow. It was really great to be so far out from the city. Rolling pastures and country side. What a nice change of pace. It was treeless, which I'm not used to, so it was a lot hotter, and there seems to be a curse in the air. No matter which way we turned we were always going INTO the wind! ARGH! The rest stops were interesting. My co-worker thought of them as social pitstops. But people should be a bit more careful about where they step, we both got out bikes stepped on. Not that we have $$$ bikes, but come on!

Anyways we completed our 30 mile route in 2:33 which we were both happy with. We averaged around 15mph too. Definately worth doing again in the future. Hopefully more BT'ers next year, so we can make it a fun group event.
