Overall Rank = /
Age Group = 40-44
Age Group Rank = 3/3
Pre-race routine:

Not much of a pre-race routine! Got up, ate half of a bagel, was still full from dinner the night before.
Event warmup:

Warmup consisted of staying warm--it was so windy--the wind was miserable. Lots of jumping up and down in the wetsuit!
Swim
  • 38m 49s
  • 1640 yards
  • 02m 22s / 100 yards
Comments:

Holy chop Batman--the lake was angry that day! 20 + mph winds made the swim pretty difficult! They almost cancelled it due to the conditions, but did not. I was thankful that I'm so comfortable in the water--a lot of panicking going on...not me! I did the Dory and just kept swimming, just kept swimming! The whole time I kept thinking 'this is so darn fun!' My time was slowwww...but I was battling the elements!
What would you do differently?:

Nothing! I swam the best I could in those darn waves!
Transition 1
  • 04m 26s
Comments:

My darn wrists got caught in my wetsuit when I tried to pull my arms out! I could not pull the darn thing off--I was stuck with no hands! It was very frustrating, but finally used my teeth to pull! Slow transition!
What would you do differently?:

Not pull both arms at the same time.
Bike
  • 1h 35m
  • 24.85 miles
  • 15.69 mile/hr
Comments:

Wow...the wind made the bike leg really tough as well. We headed out into the wind, uphill. I think I maxed out at 13 mph--it was really hard! I handled the hills with no problem--felt like a badass passing people on the uphills! On the way back I did hit 25-26 mph--total blast. Just like in the swim I kept thinking 'this is so darn fun!' even with the darn wind making the race really tough.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing, happy with my effort in the wind.
Transition 2
  • 03m 22s
Comments:

A little faster than T1 but still pretty slow!
What would you do differently?:

Move faster
Run
  • 56m 43s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 09m 08s  min/mile
Comments:

Very happy with my run. Felt wobbly at first but got going pretty good (for me!) Again, kept thinking 'this is so darn fun!' I loved it.
What would you do differently?:

Maybe pushed a bit harder the second half.
Post race
Warm down:

Laid in the grass until my family found me!

What limited your ability to perform faster:

The wind...my ability to perform any faster! :-)

Event comments:

Although the wind REALLY sucked, I'd definitely do it again to improve my time!!!

 Congrates Nice Job Kim

Considering the conditions, nice 10K to run it out.

Great job, Teech! You are a machine. I love the attitude, if you aren't having fun, why bother? And it sure seems like you were having fun!

Great job in what sounds like some really tough conditions... and it's awesome how you made the best of it!

I love the Lake Havasu area (vacationed there about 15 years ago) and hope to do this race some year.

Great job. Wind is a bugger, but you kept a great attitude. I loved hearing how much fun you had, and that 10k time is terrific.
