I also have the MT10's for "everyday" wear, which I also alternate with Merrel Trail Gloves. No pain for me... What else has changed in your daily and/or training routines?

I have NB M730 as my training shoe and the Nike Free 3.0 as an everyday shoe.  Going to be buying another pair of NB M730's to use as an everyday shoe.  I don't have any pain in my heel or anything along those lines.  I would walk around barefoot at work if they would let me though.

Might be something that was caused by some training maybe...maybe hit a rock while running, not hard enough to cause pain on the spot but enough to cause irritation later?

I've been using Merrell Slants and Life Orbits a lot for everyday use. Are you sure this is the only change you've made?

I wear minimalist shoes for every day and haven't noticed a problem. But everyone is different, so that they don't bother me doesn't mean they won't bother you. I stand probably 2-3 hours a day and walk between buildings to get to class, so I am on my feet maybe 4 hours a day out of a 6-8 hour work day.

ETA - I wear no shoes or flip flops at home and have done so for most of my life.

Switching to a lower heel drop (Kinvaras for me) became the source of the Plantar Fasciitis that pulled me from running for 6 months (and into Triathlon!).

I had never experienced PF before ... felt like a stone bruise in the heel before it really exploded into a nasty case from there. If you're not accustomed to a lower heel drop, your achilles and lower calf can really take some strain ... ultimately requiring more from the Plantar Fascia.

I'm not saying this is what's going on for you, just identifying what became a big problem for me, its source, and that it started off as a general "heel pain".

This happened to me as well. I wear flats to work all the time but I put arch supports in them. If I don't and go for days without wearing the arch support, I get plantar fasciitis.

As crazy as it sounds, the best combination I found for running is minimalist shoes with superfeet in them. It seems counter-intuitive but I think I like not having the big heel but having arch support is the right combo for me. I've been through a bunch of injuries and have been feeling way better with this setup.

Personally, I started using Merell Trail Gloves over a year ago as a running shoe and fell in love with them and started wearing them for my everyday shoe. If anything it helped my foot/ankle/knee pain by letting my foot move more freely.

With that being said though, it took some getting used to to use the shoe as it was intended. They are designed to encourage you to not rely on the heavy padding/arch support from traditional running shoes and move in a more natural manner. If you walk around in your minimalist shoes with a heavy heel its very painful as I discovered myself.

I'd have to guess its more about 'how' you walk more than the specific shoes your wearing. And if you go back and forth between the minimalist shoes everyday and your running shoes you may be changing your style of how your foot strikes the ground. This back and forth could be causing you to have heel pain from readapting to the minimalist shoe after coming back from your running shoes.

Just a little food for thought from my own experiene. This may not be exactly whats happening for you, but I hope you are able to narrow it down.

Good luck.

Alex

I weare the MT 20 as my everyday shoe for the past 1-2 years, but prior to making that switch I eased into less support by going barefoot at home as much as possible and in the yard, and quick short runs (really short...seriously like 10-15 minutes or less). Over time I spent more time in the minimalist shoes as my normal shoes.

I wear NB MT10 for everyday use which I bought from Foot Solutions and I have not felt heel pain. Make sure you are wearing the right size shoes. Also consider placing cushioning inserts or supports in your shoes for extra support and comfort.

I wear Merrel Trail Gloves pretty often. Last week I jumped off a wall maybe 10 feet high onto cement, without thinking about the shoes I was wearing. I'm still having heel pain from that. I have no doubt that the lack of heel cushioning could cause people issues, especially when they are not used to them.

I had the Merrell pace gloves and loved them until I wore them around Disney for a week. They were comfortable, but I noticed I started getting heel pain. It almost felt like my heel was bruised. I think they just didn't have enough cushioning for me. They never bothered me running though.
