How many times a week / month /year will you be wearing and or dry cleaning it? There are some great looking, but less durable inexpensive choices.

Brooks Brothers (1st choice)
Men's Wearhouse (2d choice)

Those are my recommendations.

Get polyester as they last much longer.  I have over 100 hours in my current suit.

Macy's has a good selection of suits, but I always wait for a sale.  The only reason to pay full price is because you need a suit immediately.

Looking to buy 2-3 suits.  I would probably where these 3-4 times a month for church and a monthly community meeting.

I went to Jos. A. Bank last night, would you recommend them?

Agreed. Brook's has an outlet priced suit which can be had, on sale and 2 for $500. But they're not long wearing.

Men's Warehouse has good choices, not terribly expensive. Their tailoring leaves much to be desired. I'm all chest and upper body, so trousers need to be tailored for me. The last job wasn't very good.

Macy's is limited in choice.

Nordstrom Rack has some great values. I saw, not in my size, some GREAT Burberry suits last week for $349.

They sell only their house brands and they seem to ponzi scheme their sales. Buy 1 get 6.732 free But I have 1 and it's been OK. That has lasted.

I think I may go to blazer and slacks as the trousers wear out from so much walking during sales appointments. You can't find a new pair, hence, the whole suit is trashed.

Another option would be 2-3 sports coats or blazers and dress slacks.  With different combinations of coats, slacks, shirts, and ties, you could make two coats and three slacks work all month.  A blue blazer can be worn with almost any color pants and shirts.

To me, Jos A. Banks is in the same ballpark as Men's Wearhouse. Decent suits but you might want to take it to a real tailor for adjustments.

Brooks Brothers is the official suit makers of federal law enforcement, it seems

CTD Tailor

I was impressed for the price. It's no Ralph Lauren or anything, but for a casual (non daily) wear suit it's not been bad.

IMO the bigger issue is the quality of the tailoring rather than the price...Unless you're one of those lucky guys who can buy off the rack without tailoring, what's the point in a good deal if the suit looks like crap while worn?

Also, the sport coat and slacks option is way better for the money as I too have several suits where the pants are beginning to show their age and the jackets look new....No value to the jacket though without the pants...

Fortunately for me my company went business casual a number of years ago so my suit purchasing went waaaaay down....When I was still wearing t hem I located a tailor and became familiar with their pricing and then kept that in the back of my mind when pricing new suits...

Good luck.

X2
Good tailoring can make a cheap suit look ok. Bad tailoring can make an expensive suit look cheap. Wherever you go, try to find a place that includes tailoring in the price (I think JoS A Banks and Brooks Brothers do, at least on full-price suits. Or find a good independant tailor. If you're not sure where to go, call the best menswear store in your town and ask who they recommend.

I have been pretty pleased with Men's warehouse.  I'm a bit hard to fit being this tall and they generally have a decent selection for me.

As a side not, big and tall MEANS Big AND Tall.  I'm too skinny to shop there.  If it fit's someone 6'7" it's also 5xl.  I need a Large or XL Tall.  Not 5xl tall...  But I digress.

I own a few Brooks Brothers BrooksEase suits, they're fantastic.  Not the cheapest out there, but the quality is outstanding and they are easy to wear.  Nordstrom also carries great suits.

2nd - Men;s Wearhouse.

Jones NY, fits my build, quality expectations, and - when on sale - price.

I would reccommend Jos A Banks, but don't pay full price. They constantly have "sales" like buy 1 get 3 free. Brings the price to about $230 for a nice suit.

I mostly shop at Brooks Brothers.  They make a good, medium-priced suit and usually have a good seamstress in their store for alterations.  I am a pretty standard 39 Reg so I don't need anything special.

They just closed the Brooks Brothers store at Westtown Mall in Knoxville.  I will have to plan more carefully now so I can shop in Atlanta when I need something.

If you know your size check out www.decalofashion.com They have great deals on some upper end suits.  I've gotten Ralph Lauren suits for between $189-$229...good deals...check them out...
