Drove to Ironman Texas 70.3 in Galveston last weekend. About 500 miles each way so not too bad. Drive home on Monday was tough as everytime I stopped for gas, etc. I felt like the Tin Man after a rain storm. Stiff, sore and tight. Not much of a "rest day". Curious to see what some of the road warriors here have done? I'll be driving solo about 1000 miles each way for Eagleman in June so trying to get mentally prepared. Satellite radio and books on cd help pass the time. Let's see who has the record! Bet there are some epic trips out there.

I've done races during my trips to WI (~1,000 miles).  We always drive there.

We're driving from DC to Milwaukee for USAT AG Nationals this summer -- about 800 miles I think. But we're stopping in the middle of the drive both ways to visit family.

1943 miles from Peoria, IL to Coeur D'Alene, ID via Glacier National Park.  We took the youngest two boys (16 at the time) and drove out and back for IMCdA in 2009.  We hit the Badlands, Mount Rushmore, Glacier, Yellowstone, and the Corn Palace on that trip.

The 4000 miles we drove was about the same distance I trained in the 12 months getting ready for the race.  I mapped my progress each month as if I were driving there and back.

Sounds like an awesome family trip! Congrats

I live just south of Richmond, VA.  I have gone to Ithaca, NY twice for Cayuga Lake Tri (my family is in Albany so it wasn't a hard call to combine it with a family visit) and once to Savannah, GA to do a half marathon (again combined with a trip for a conference the half marathon was my incentive togo to the conference)

800 miles each way to Birmingham, AL. Last weekend, for the Double Oak Du, a world's qualifier. Drove down Friday, returned on Saturday.

Also drove a 5000 mile round trip for Boulder 70.3 in '11. But in that case we stopped for a month in Boulder.

Madison WI to Tempe last Nov about 3400 round trip.

We are driving to Lake Placid in July. When I do multiple IM in year, we make one a fun driving trip and then we fly to another one.

Drove from the NW Houston 'burbs to PCB for IMFL in 2010.  I'll be doing that again this year.  Close to 700 miles.

~1,750 miles, from Chicago area out to Las Vegas. Spent some time in a few spots afterward, so the return was longer, but broken up more.

Normally I stay within a full day's drive.

In August, we're planning to drive from Calgary to LA for my wife to compete in the Disneyland half marathon -- 1,500 miles each way.  Basically a combination race & road trip.

1443 miles there to Brewhouse Tri in Duluth MN from MA in 2008 2 weeks after IMLP and did the race with my son, daughter, brother, and nephew. Had family vacation then drove home.

Also have driven from home to a race in Bemidj MN that is more like 1650 miles each race but spend time with family afterwards.

Other places we have gone just to race: MA to Chesepeakeman x2 for 820 miles. Driving down East coast can be frustrating with all the traffic.

I've done the Brewhouse!  That was my first tri back in 2003.  Drove up from Chicago.  I'll be driving the 1000 miles from Chicago to Lake Placid this summer.  I drove out there to volunteer and ride the course last summer...

If all goes as planned, the family and I will travel 1,201 miles to Wisconsin for me to do my first Half Ironman (Racine). I then hope to do Ironman Texas for my first full, which I ironically will only travel about 70 miles for.

755 miles to Vineman 70.3 (my first half IM).  Did it hauling a camper trailer, 8 yo, and 5yo (with my husband).  We got to see family and dropped down to Yosemite on the way back.

I would love to drive home for a race, but my husband considers 1800 miles too much   SO I flew home by myself for my first marathon.

My husband drove (southern route) from Atlanta to No California last year - I did Vineman.  It's about 2,500 miles one way.  (I flew out early.)  We both drove back (northern route) and hit a lot of breweries in Colorado on the way back.  Which was a lot of fun.

I'll admit he did most of the driving, but being a passenger still sucked!  Total miles were well over 5,000 miles - got an oil change right before he left and another one upon return to Georgia.

I'm doing Tahoe this year and he's been hinting about driving again. Surprised

The year before we drove to Wisconsin.  Not a fun drive!
