I am looking to do my First OWS with my wetsuit at lake Afton before the KS 5150 and looking to see if there is anybody else out there looking for group swim?

I'd like to do that too. When would you like ti meet? I'm free this weekend. I've heard there is a clinic that one of the local Tri clubs puts on sometime in the spring. I haven't been able to confirm this, however.

The swim clinic is basically one of the members of the club giving tips for the OWS. At any rate, it's a chance for a group swim, and free, so probably worth your time.

Do we need to let anyone know we are planning to come, or can we just show up?

I am preparing for the Kansas 70.3 and would like to get some OWS in as well.  Seems like the Wichita club has some group swims.  Does anyone know when these are?

Which club are you referring to?

The Kansas River Valley Tri Club is hosting the clinic talked about above. From their web site: May 11, 2:00 pm @ Lake Afton Open Water Swim Clinic.  West side of the Lake at Shelter #2.  Park at the shelter parking lot and you shouldn't have to pay the $3.00 one-day park fee.

There is a Wichita Triathlon Team but it's pay-to-play coaching.

One this Saturday at 2:00 at Lake Afton, but I don't know about others. I've poked around a little on their site, but not found anything else yet.

My son has soccer games this Saturday so I am out.  Wish I could do it.  I was referring to River Valley.  I thought they got together frequently and did some OWS.  I haven't swam in my wetsuit yet and really want to get a few swims in before June.

They just do that one per year - at least that I'm aware of.
You can always head out to that same spot and practice on your own. If you swim parallel to the shore it's between 300-400 yards between the swim area boueys one-way. It's also fairly shallow so you can stand up in a number of places, especially if you stay closer to the shore.

I am looking for someone that might want to train occassionally together, for any area.  I am new to tri's and need to improve in all areas (swim is my weakest).  Hit me up if this sounds interesting!!
