If this has already been posted sorry.  Couldn't believe that this was all caught on video. Glad it wasn't worst than that...

One of our local rides, called the Rockstore.  There's a biker bar nearby.  This curve is apparently in excess of 270 degrees, so people camp out here for photos etc.

Great lawsuit evidence, as that rider will be paying some $$$

Yep, obviously the motorcyclist's fault. There appears to have been a large group of bicyclists out, possibly some sort of organized ride? The motorcycle had to have passed many other bicyclists before striking these two riders. What was he thinking?

From the video, I would say immediately after he was thinking, "good thing I had a helmet on".

I've read that there was an informal group ride including George Hincapie (who was ahead of this) but that rider #1 was not part of it.  This is normal so cal riding on a nice weekend.,   Hundreds of cyclists all over those hills, as well as cars and motos

There's always lots of cyclists on that road on the weekends.

There's actually a helmet cam video from the rider behind him showing him riding pasts several cyclists before acting like a complete moron for the cameras in that turn and almost killing that guy.

And, unfortunately he didn't choose to fix his eyes on the big open lane to the cyclists' left.

And technically, the exit point of the turn way ahead...

It would seem that he missed the apex of that turn by just a bit.

A couple observations...

  • I'm surprised how relatively calm everyone was.  I might have thought it would get a bit heated...  I may be cursing the motorcyclist out after knowing everyone was basically ok.
  • I'm guessing the hoochy with the butt crack showing wasn't there to video the cyclists.  That looks like a motorcycle talent!  (Hence the reason I have a sportbike! )

I think you are required by internet laws that if you suggest such a thing that you must provide a link.  If I find that this video is on the internet and you did not provide a link, then you are fired from the internet.

You can probably find it, but it's been removed by the poster from youtube

It wasn't that interesting.  Hopefully someone grabbed a copy for the DA's office

Looks to me like the motorcycle just misjudged the turn...

That back bicyclist definitely landed awkwardly...looked like it hurt....

x2 on that.  I think it's a good example of how staying calm leads to a better outcome.  You can be sure that motorcycle rider will be paying.

Ach....just saw this today.  My friend rides this road on a fairly regular basis.  He says that on the weekends, it's basically cyclists and fast cars (can you say expensive Italian models) and motorcycles.  I understand there have been a number of close calls on this road.  I am a nubie and was aspiring to ride this this summer with my more experienced friend...now, I'm not so sure.

The guy that was "first contact" looked pretty bad.  Looks like a head injury to me.  Hope he is OK.
