I think my contract it up and I'm entitled to a new phone.  (Sprint is my carrier).

I really liked my current HTC evo phone a lot.  So leaning towards another droid phone.  However, I have a lot of apple products and adding an Iphone wouldn't be a terrible idea.  The wife has one though and honestly?  Don't like it nearly as much as mine.  The nice thing though is connectivity to all my other apple apps (ipad) and itunes/icloud and such.

SO, suggestions for the new hot smart phone?

I'm leaning towards something from Samsung this time if I go droid.

I had an iPhone for years and to me it seems like it is getting buggier and buggier with each OS release.  I switched over to an HTC One X+ from AT&T and LOVE it.  The OS is more intuitive to me.  I don't miss my iPhone at all.

Droid I would go Samsung.

iPhone I would go 5 and jail break it. I have a jail broken 4, took 5 mins to do and hasn't caused any problems. All the little things you wish you could tweak about the iPhone can be done on a jail broken phone. I even get free tethering!

gotta go with the Galaxy S4.  Honestly I'd be there already except I'm with Verizon and they are trying to force me to give up my unlimited data plan.  I'm going to push the issue at some point and see if they are willing to lose a 15 year customer over it.  Otherwise I guess I'll just wait until my HTC totally "ships the bed" as the old man in the K Mart commercial says.

I'm using the EVO Shift, about a year now. I like the slide out keyboard and it is a bit smaller than the EVO. For perspective, my wife has an EVO and an iPhone (work), kids have the Galaxy S3, I have an old BBerry for work. The only one I would consider other than mine is the Galaxy. The soft keyboard is large enough that my fat fingers can use it OK.  My wife is currently in the same boat as you and is trying to decide, but she loves her EVO and doesn't want to part with it.

Samsung - Galaxy Note II 4G L900 Mobile Phone - Sprint Cdma

It's a huge Mobile phone/sort of notepad thingy. My husband is going to get it and I think he will regret his decision.

I love my Samsung Galaxy.

I saw that and I like "big" but that think is monstrous.  I techy guy calls them Phablets...  (phone/tablet).  If I cant get it into my pocket comfortably (with a case, which makes it bigger), it's to big for me.  I already have a tablet, I just need a phone.

Disclaimer, I work for Sprint...

Given what you've shared so far, the Note 2 would be the only other thing I'd suggest you look at besides a Galaxy S3/S4. If the Note 2 is too honkin' big for you (I have one and while I've adjusted quite well, I can see it might not be for everyone), the S4 will be more future proof and the S3 will be a great phone too that is much cheaper right now if that is a consideration.

Oh, one other question, how much do you depend on your 4G/Wimax connection? I don't think LTE has been rolled out to Las Vegas yet, so you will be without a 4G connection for a while with a S3/S4/Note2.

Just looked at the sprint page.  So the S4 and SIII stand out.  One is free and one is 150 bucks.  worth it?  As for 4g, I don't pay for the access, so I have lived with 3g and wifi wich is 90% of my day.  (at home or office, both with wifi).

I'm not COMPLETELY against the note if it's a lot better overall.

Any other deals going on now?  I saw some popup about $100 bucks off.  I would do the note for $100 bucks all said and done (not including the other taxes/charges).

Friend of mine has the Note as well and that thing is simply not a phone, its a 5" tablet!

Funny how 10 years ago "the next generation" phone kept getting smaller and smaller... now we're going bigger and bigger!

This is the one thing I HATE...there is no 4g LTE connection here yet, so I am stuck with 3g (yet PAY for 4g...THANKS! :-)).

When I got my phone, they said 9 months...so this summer, I should think.

At any rate, I still LOVE my phone, and even the 3g is better on it (and better than DH's 4g motorola/ATT phone, honestly).

What's changed between the 3 and 4? My 3 was worth the $200 I paid when I got it. If I could get it now for free, I'd be thrilled.

I have Sprint and recently traded in my EVO for an iPhone.  As much as I have tried to avoid the Mac hype, they are just better.  I can't believe I said that...   I really like it.   I liked having almost zero learning curve, since I have iPods and an iPad.

I ultimately made the choice because I wanted to have a phone I could use Internationally and the iPhone is the only Sprint offering that has a removable sim card.    Just something to consider if you travel.

You can't go wrong with the Samsung Galaxy.

You could just buy a Nexus 4 and not be locked into a contract.
