Went 2:39:28 at my Olympic today.
Took 3rd AG.
First Tri Podium!

SHIV was awesome..20mph on a hilly Oly course that gave me the #3 bike split and +8 total positions. I'm used to BOP bike splits and minus 6-8 positions. Bike made a huge difference today! Couldn't be happier.

Sprint race tomorrow..same course, just everything cut in half.

Thanks Dave. I feel like I have come a long way and your advice and encouragement has played a part in that.
Today was a bit of breakthrough for me, but I'm going to keep pushing hard and getting better. Thanks again.

Went awesome! Won the AG by over 3 minutes and got 10th overall with a 1:12:53.
Splits went #1 Swim, #1 Bike, and #2 run in AG. (only 7 athletes, but I'll take it!) Also the first time I have come back to beat somebody who beat me earlier in the year.

Happy with all the progress I've made this year. Have one more Olympic race left in 3 weeks.

Thanks Tim. I was hoping to get a podium somewhere before the end of the year but 2 in one weekend was beyond expectations. Gonna close out the season with a race in Melbourne, FL and then work even harder this winter to hopefully start making this routine.

Good lord, Chris!! How did you get so fast?

All: I've kind of hit a weird spot in my training regimen. Like I mentioned before, I find myself mostly doing 45-60min trainerroad rides or light strength training 3 days a week and then training really hard on weekends when I have time and can work out in the morning while it's cool. I ran 10 miles on Sunday (furthest I've ever run in one go) and am feeling really motivated about that, but not sure where to go from here. My volume is increasing but my speed remains constant.

Also, is anyone familiar with Infinit nutrition? Looks like a pretty solid (if somewhat expensive) sports drink and I thought I might try a bag.

I don't really know Tacetman. I hope some of it is me and not "all about the bike". I just hope to keep working hard and be consistent.

As far as your training, are you doing any running during the week?. Able to do any bricks off the trainerroad rides?

Taceman,

To increase speed you need to work on intervals. During a run you need to do a 90 sec pace pick up then a recovery jog. 3-6 interval per run. these runs need to be 4 miles at most. keep on long run during the week with a slower steady pace.

Good news.

I finally got some run time in since my injury in June. I ran yesterday and today, both very short and very slow runs. So far, so good; no additional pain and if nothing else, a level of confidence in my joints and tendons. I plan to take tomorrow off from running...i don't want to stress it too much and too soon. Hopefully this means that the 2014 season will be better than the 2013 has been.

Extremely late, but here are August totals. Not something I'm particularly proud of. An explanation, not an excuse: I was out of the country for 10 days and couldn't train.

Swim: Bupkis
Bike: 6h14m / 101mi
Run: 1h50m / 11.16mi (terrible!)

Dave, I'm with you on not going according to plan, fortunately my swim was about what I expected, the bike was better, but the run, well the wheels fell off... Can't be too upset, taking 50 minutes off of my Kansas time! I'm sorry you had issues too. It was good to meet you & again thank you for all your support this year! Race report should be up tonight. Tim

Just finished my last race of the season.
An Olympic distance in Melbourne, FL.
I fell apart a bit on the run but held on for a 5th place AG.
Race report is up at the blog below if anyone is interested.
Thanks.
