Since deciding to do what I do, I have worked for 2 companies.... one of them 3 times... but that is a very long story. Laughing

But really Kido... when are you going to end this charade and come back to Colorado? I grew up in Vegas. I seriously considered going back in early 90s, but the writing was on the wall, and could not see living in a city of 3 million with no water. Well... Colorado may not either...Laughing

Not many jobs for Vegas show girls in Colorado. So his wife might have something to say about that.

Done with that season in my life now, but it was my job for 11+ years and I loved every minute of it. I also worked 10X as hard as I do now!!

Five since 1975, not including a brief stint with the Navy (medical discharge while in flight school) and a job where the company was bought out three times while I was there doing the same thing.

Started out in Industrial Engineering and got promoted up through the production management ranks with three different firms.

My company went through a downsizing in 1997 and they offered my a year's salary to leave.  Took the buyout expecting to take a bit of a sabatical, but got an offer two weeks later from another firm just down the street.

Had open heart surgery in late 2000 and it took several months to fully recover.  Did a lot of soul searching during that time and decided on making a career change from engineering/production management into the financial advisory business.  Several factors entered into my decision, not the least of which was the desire to stay in the Sarasota area, not just for the location, but also our involvement with Church and community.

It has ended up being a good decision for a lot of reasons.

Since I graduated in 2002 (Computer Science), 3 jobs. First one I actually started while in school, so 1999-2005, second one 2005-2008 and the current one. The first one was the longest, but mostly because they hired me part time while in school and it was an awesome job while finishing my degree, but not a job I loved. I was only there for 2.5 years after I graduated. I love my current job, so I expect to be here for awhile, but 3.5 years does seem like average in this industry.

I am 33 and have worked for two companies since graduating from college.  I worked for the first company for 5.5 years and held three positions.  And I worked for the second company for almost 5 years and held two positions.

I just recently became a stay-at-home mom.  And this is, by far, my favorite "job".

I'm 42, graduated from college ~17 years ago and I've worked in HR for 8 different companies:

  • Job 1 - good "foot in the door position" - 3 years, 11 months
  • Job 2 - One of the "Big 5" companies, no longer exists - 11 months
  • Job 3 - Public school district ('nuff said) - 4 years
  • Job 4 - Homebuilder with horrible commute - 2 years
  • Job 5 - Commercial Construction, laid off - 3 years
  • Job 6 - Oil and Gas - 2 1/2 years
  • Job 7 - Manufacturing, definitely not a good fit for me - 7 months
  • Job 8 - IT Consulting - 1 month...hoping to stay here for awhile!
