Pre-race routine:

Arrived at the site at 5:30.
Event warmup:

None
Swim
  • 37m
  • 2112 yards
  • 01m 45s / 100 yards
Comments:

There were about 50 people in my wave, and it was an in water start just off the shore line. After the first right hand turn, things thinned out and you were able to pretty much swim by yourself.
Transition 1
  • 00m
Comments:

I had a good swim, but was really discombobulated coming out of the water. There was a bit of a walk to transition but nothing too bad.
Bike
  • 04m
  • 57.2 miles
  • 858.00 mile/hr
Comments:

I really need to get better at biking.

Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

By this point, not many people were left.
Run
  • 02m 5s
  • 13.2 miles
  • 10s  min/mile
Comments:

It was easier than I'd thought it would be, but later on stomach cramps came on and I probably should have walked more.

Course: The course is basically a giant, 0.6 mile square in Lake Absegami. The lake itself was pretty clean, and the water was cool at around 62 degrees. The air temperatue was also hovering near 60 degrees, so when you got into the water it didn't feel that bad. I had on a full wetsuit so that obviously helped.

Course: The corse was three loops. The first part of the loop was about a mile of very bumpy roads. The road consisted of large concrete slabs laid together and every 50 feet or so there was a depression where the two slabs meet. After that it wsa mainly lightly traveled roads.

Course: The course is part road, and part trail. It's actually very nice if you like trail running. The course is marked decently but it can get confusing, so you really have to pay attention. Aid stations remained stocked deep into the race.
