Subject: Anybody count calories or macros?

Just curious, anybody here aim for a target caloric goal or certain macro targets like 100g protein or 400g carbs....etc

why or why not?

personally, I'm looking to shed a few lbs so I aim for 2400cals during the week and about 3000 on the weekends. I've found at these numbers I lose weight at a safe rate and have enough energy to train. I aim for >= 120g protein. I will up cals for long train sessions.

i do. i have an overall body composition goal that i'm working toward, and i need to count calories and macros carefully to be able to there. it's all a science experiement, and i need to take notes.

i vary my routine and experiment with different things. for several months i counted cals and aimed for a 40/40/20 ratio of carb/prot/fat. i'm current eating a lot (to curb weight loss and hopefully continue to recomp) and just switched to eating about 1g/lb of prot, .5 g/lb of fat, and the rest carb. If I were to get it just right, that would be 185g prot and about 95g fat. (I also weight train in addition to tri training)

I wish I had the discipline for macros. I keep a mental count of calories throughout the day and have gaining or losing a pound a week down pretty easily. As far as protein/fats/carbs and stuff I kind of wing it. If the previous day I had a lot more carbs than protein then I tend to take more time to eat protein at every meal that current day, like boiled eggs, tuna, milk, big *** salad with lean meat on top... then the next day I'll have some fats & carbs like PB&J, nuts, cereal (healthy kind + 2% milk)...

kinda just wing it, but I keep a mental track of what I should lean towards.

I did for about 3 months when i first started to lose weight, I lost 30 lbs. Now i just eat a whole lot of food to maintain weight and don't count anything. I try to eat protein with every meal though just to make sure i try and get 100g. If i wasnt so lazy i would be doing my fitnesspal every day

Sitting at 1500 net per day on .5lbs a week lose (gained 10-14 over winter/on purpose)

Try for 120g protein a day with a good after-workout meal as much as possible. Sodium and the other stuff, don't care. My fat/carb seems to work itself out.

If I don't track, it creeps up. Just the act of tracking makes me eat less garbage because I have to log it.

I have a calorie net amount that I try to achieve each day.  I'm one of the keto diet folks so my ratios are way out of whack to most.  I use MyFitnessPal to make sure that I net about 1500 calories a day.  As an example, I burned about 800 cals today so my total intake will probably be closer to 2300 cals vs. 1500 on a rest day.
