Hey everyone I am a new triathlete from Houston. I recently let my buddy talk me into doing a short tri in conroe about a month ago and I definitely caught the bug. Currently I am debating on whether or not I want to sign up for the 70.3 in Austin this October and will follow the trinewbies plan if I do. Any and all helpful training ideas are needed!

Congrats, triathlete! Welcome to BT!

You might want to also introduce yourself in the Texas forum, easier to find people that way. Why don't you have a look at several different half-iron plans--there, here, everywhere--and see if you're ready for that kind of training commitment?

Good luck!

Welcome! Good to see another Houstonian. The Houston area has a lot of good races, plus triathlon clubs which organize rides or training events. You also can consider getting a coach if you are planning on HIM distance. There is also Oilman in Conroe which is a HIM. What part of town do you live in?

Welcome! Second on introducing yourself in the TX forum. Houston is a great place for tris - tons available plus all the bike and run events, even some OWS stuff. There are also a lot of good tri clubs in the area, so you should be able to find one close to you.
