Subject: Garmin 910 Elevation frustration. There's been a lot of conversation about the 910 barometric altimeter not working. I contacted Garmin tech support over the phone and they took me into diagnostic menus to get a bunch of info and came to the conclusion it is a software issue. I got the sense they were already well aware of this and working on it. They offered to let me return my unit and get a refurbished one, but if it is a software issue it'll likely show up on the refurb as well.
Figured I would just wait until the fix came out and use the "enable correction" choice on Garmin Connect until then. Well, come to find that doesn't work any more either. I get the same useless elevation information. Riding along SF Bay but at 16,000 to 65,000 feet. I did, however, find that if I select "enable" and wait for the screen to reload, then choose Player up at the top right, the Player does show the corrected elevation information. |
