Hey all

I need some help. I just started doing Triathlon's this year, have done a super-sprint and a sprint, and have another sprint coming up next weekend (July 22). I'm having difficulties getting motivated, and definitely have failed at 'ramping up' like I'm supposed to. I this week all I've done is a run and a short stair work out. It's pathetic! Why am I feeling this way, and why can't I get up at 5:15 like I normally do. Granted this week is 10 days of partying in the city I live in, so I'm using that as a partial excuse... but that's not enough to be a full excuse. Please help me get motivated! I've got to kick my to co-worker/trainer's butts!!!

Thanks

Hard to know...when my motivation wanes it is usually because of overtraining...I am not letting my body recover enough and it's talking back...a few days of absolutely nothing usually gets me surging with energy....when I am tired, I can't get motivated....

It is the space between the notes that make the music.  (The Mac waxing philosophical)

It is the time between the training that is as important as the training itself.  I am not a believer in pushing through the burn out feelings.  Listen to your body and take a day or two off.

I agree with Mac entirely, take a few days off then go at it again.  You may also consider entering in a longer race too.  That will be motivation to ramp up the training.

I would really like to take the option of signing up for a longer length (Oly!) tri, but unfortunately I don't know any where near me that has races in September. It just gets too darn cold here.

Thanks for your input, I especially enjoy the 'music is what happens between the notes' comment. I will try to run with that one for a while.
