Do any of you do IFing?

I have read about Intermittent Fasting for years. Most who talk about it seem to love it.

Recently I read an article, Train Like a Man, Eat Like A Woman by a trainer I respect (Lauren Brooks) who said intermittent fasting is not good.

Just wonder your opinions....

I have seen some videos on this. Calories as you know are very essential to people who workout. Calories are what we need for energy. But i think the whole IF craze is more for people who are focused on weight lifitng...and have goals of wanting to look really cut. Not saying triathletes dont want to look like this...but we need our carbs as our training demands more than a 30-45 minute weight lifting workout.

I used to only lift weights before getting into Tri's. If you are looking to trim fat...i would stick to the usual no alcohol, no bad salt/fat/sugar/carbs and eat sensibly. Maybe reduce portion sizes, cut carbs after 6pm...things like that.

Fasting is fine out of season. If you want to have your best quality workouts and best recovery from those workouts, so that you can hit your next planned workout, then you need good quality food

I'm going to let you in on how to get faster by doing nothing. Well, not exactly nothing, but you won't have to raise your heart rate, put out 300 watts, or really even break a sweat.

I quickly browsed an article in Men's Health that talked about doing a triathlon, and how it wasn't really that hard. With a "tsk!" I quickly turned the page while thinking, "Yeah, right!"

We live in a fast-paced society and gym time seems more of a chore than an escape. Rushing through a workout not only yields fewer results but makes athletes prime candidates for injury.
