Does anyone have a Garmin 910XT that you have used for an entire IM race? If so, did the battery last the whole time and what was your finish time?

I would like to use mine as my timer clock, in addition to the bike/run functions, but I don't want it to die on the run.

I'm assuming you're posting this because a specific vendor has them for 25% off. Yes, it can be done. I use the 310xt for all my events including ironman. Considering you can get the 910xt for the price I got my 310xt for... that's a very good deal.

Look up DCrainmaker's review by googling. Very good watch.

It should last. As with the above poster i have the 310 (the precursor to the 910 - man, I wish I had a 910) and it last no problem throughout my IM last summer. I was just over 13 hours (and i forgot to actually start it at the beggining of the swim but had it on with a signal about 30 minutes prior to the swim start).

If you get it you'll see what its like the for long rides and transition runs in training and it should give you some idea of the battery life. I was nervous too but had absolutely no issues on race day. I just made sure to charge it fully.

Yes it lasts for an entire Ironman. If you took the full 17 hours, you would be taking your chances though if you had it on pre race.

I only charge my 910 maybe once a week, usually once every two weeks. The 20 hour life is no joke.

I used my 910 at Arizona. No issue on battery lasting entire time for me.

Thanks for all the replies. I have had mine for a year, so I'm not asking because of a sale, just wondering whether it will last me through my day at IMLP. Good to hear it will. But wow, 25% off is a smoking deal!

Thanks again!

Who's the vendor? I have a friend looking to replace her 405.

Trisports.com, I believe they sponsor here so it shouldn't be a problem calling them by name

I think there is still a $50 rebate if you return an older model that makes it an even better deal. I bought the 910 and returned an old 205 and have the rebate coming back to me.

Should last no problem. Used mine in IMAZ last year. Great watch.

Great to hear! Thanks! Now hopefully mine won't have the swimming to Africa issue in Multisport mode, since I updated to 2.7 before I read about that.

I don't know about the 910, but I think the Garmin battery life is fairly accurate.

I have the 310XT and turning it on was the last thing I did in transition at Kona before leaving my stuff.  I probably turned it on an hour before the race?  I came in just under 16 hours and I got the first "low battery" warning literally steps before the finish chute.  It made me giggle a little.

I had planned to use mine, for a 10 hour finish... but left it plugged into the charger at home. I did the entire race with a cheap timex watch - first time in the entire season I did a training session without the watch and finished a few minutes ahead of my 'best-case' goal time.

Guess my point is that the 910 will last for an entire IM, but if it dies you can still have a great day.

It is totally unit specific. I am on 2.7 and have no problem with auto multi-sport recording the data. My unit is about a year old I believe and updated to 2.7 as soon as it came out. Have done an OWS tri with the auto multi sport and all worked and recorded as planned.

During the race there will be plenty of opportunities to exchange bottles, so I'm thinking about going with the aero bottle and Gatorade bottle and fill up as necessary. What should I do?
