Extreme Veteran 410 Northern Illinois | Subject: Track Garmin data on wife's phone? Other iPhone apps? Anyone know if there is a way my wife could track my location, distance, etc using my Garmin. I couldn't find anything when I searched... We got Friend Find (tracks iPhone locations) and she gets updates on my position every 10 mins. Great for training as she likes to know where I'm at and that I'm still moving (not dead). Not sure I want to carry my phone in race (IMLP)...but it would be nice for her to have a rough idea of where I'm at and how things are going. Any suggestions? Thanks! |

Have you thought about http://www.myathletelive.com/? It's much smaller than iPhone. The only difference is the swim. If you are good at estimating of when you'll be out of the water, then you don't have to worry too much. Good luck |

Not $30 cool...but pretty damn cool. |

I've used it during HIMs before, which was helpful for my wife. I believe that when someone clicks on the link in the facebook post, it takes them to a live update of my position, average speed, etc. |

Extreme Veteran 368 | Subject: RE: Track Garmin data on wife's phone? Other iPhone apps? You could look into a garmin GTU-10. Thats what I use for when i'm training/racing. it's only about the size of a pack of gum. you can buy a refurb on ebay for 100 bucks that includes 1 year of tracking. annual tracking renewals are $50. for racing, I setup "geo-fences" for various checkpoints on the race, and have it configured to post those checkpoints to my twitter feed. ie: enter/exit transition, bike mile 14, bike mile 28, 42, run 5k, run 10k, run 15k, run mile 12. finish. additionally, if its your wife, or whomever, you can share your garmin login with them, and they can use the app on their android/iphone and get real time locations Edited by Cavemann 2013-05-26 9:49 PM |

If I'm not mistaken, having your iPhone on you during a race is a rule violation. |

You send out a link when you start and they get to see a map and all of your stats. I used it for Rev3 Knoxville and it kept my family out of the rain during the bike because they knew exactly when I was close to the end of the bike. |

Which is also a rules violation according to USAT. DCRainmaker specifically asked them for his review. http://www.dcrainmaker.com/2013/01/garmin-edge-510-in-depth-review.html Scroll down to "USAT (USA TRIATHLON) OFFICIAL RULING ON USING LIVETRACKING DURING EVENTS" |
