Comments:

Started out good and then the sun came out. I actually put more water on my head than in me. I took a water bottle with me so I could avoid the mass confusion of the water/aid stations and was glad I did. I started a little slower to warm up and then picked up the pace after mile 3. Unfortunately by mile 5 the altitude and hills showed me where my training was lacking. Overall I was happy with the run. My time was a little over 7 minutes faster from last year, and was 19 seconds off of my PR.
What would you do differently?:

NOT run the Colfax marathon the week before. I don't think I was fully recovered and definitely felt the effects of that at the end. I was trying to kick hard in the last 2 miles and just didn't have anything left in the tank.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked back to the vehicle by the start line, then headed back to the course to catch up to my wife who was in a later wave. Caught up with her around the 7k mark.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Marathon 8 days before this race and the altitude.

Event comments:

Its a great race and one I plan to do often. I learned from last year that the water/aid stations are a train wreck waiting to happen and I took a water bottle with me to avoid those. I also avoided trying the bacon after last year as well. There were over 48,000 people registered and its safe to say you won't be alone no matter what your pace. The finish line is a bottleneck as well but all in all a great event!
