This was actually a walk, but I'm logging it as a run because we were MOVING. I did this race with my friend Patty. She can't run because of a bad knee, but holy crap can she walk! I struggled mightily to keep up with her. Mightily.

Event comments:

This race was fun with all the neon glowing things, and lots of people to watch and laugh at/with. Like the Color Run, or the Warrior Dash, or any of that type of race, there is a WIDE variety of people there, and many of them are there just for the fun/social aspect (and that's fine--not saying it's bad at all, just pointing out that it's not really a top caliber serious event).

The only thing that bothered me about this race was the fact that since it doesn't start until it gets dark out, there was a LOT of people running into each other, stepping on others, tripping on things, etc. Right near the start, some guy running with two kids in a jogging stroller ran right over my foot/ankle. I'm not gonna lie--it hurt!

For anyone doing this race in the future, my top suggestion is to get in line in the starting corral EARLY... We did not, and there for it was about 9:45 p.m. before we even set foot out on the course. (The first groups were unleashed at 9:00.) And if you're doing this particular Electric Run in St. Paul, be sure you know how to get back to the parking lot. We did not pay close enough attention and ended up retracing most of the race course to find our way back. It took forever. :-P

This is a fun event overall, though. Very party atmosphere at the finish, nice race shirts, laid back overall. Not sure it's $65 worth of fun, but I might do it again next year.

I can train for half marathons on pavement and on trails, but as soon as I change it up to gravel or loose dirt my knee swells and the pain it causes is unreal. Any ideas why this happens?
