It was fine.  It was colder, but not the coldest I have encountered.   I felt comfortable after the first few minutes.   The waves from boats are a whole other thing, though.... I am glad there will be less action on the lake Saturday morning.[b/]

Other than fisherman, there shouldn't be a whole lot of boaters at 7:30 in the morning. Especially near Excelsior. Not quite a hotspot for fishing (I don't think...) Wind is supposed to be from south south East, so mainly coming from Maynards/Bayside's (not across the whole lake). Should be a great swim! Now, if I could only breath to the right, I could avoid the sun in my eyes...

Ryan, I'll be planning on that being true

p.s.  What the heck, font?...

no clue about the font. Thought the old post writer was easier to highlight stuff. I haven't figured this one out yet...

Also, it looks like there are 15 BT'ers signed up for this one. Any chance we can swing a group photo? There's a couple of Minnesota group shots that come across the banners, and it's always fun to see those smiling faces. Not sure when/where would be a good spot. Any thoughts or suggestions?

A good place to meet is by "swim in" since that's the general area of the race meeting at 7.   I would suggest meeting just before that, say 6:50.  Does anyone have a spectator coming along that can do the picture? That's always the hard part - getting the camera back into transition, etc.  It's MUCH easier to have help.

My wife will be there with her DSLR and can probably take the picture.

In other news, my tri bike was stolen this morning from my garage Even if it turns up I won't have it for several days. That, along with not getting enough training in, made me think about not coming on Saturday. Reading this thread cheered me up though. I can borrow a friend's road bike and choose to make it fun. See you guys there!

Holy crap, THAT SUCKS! There is really nothing in this world I cannot stand more than chicken- poo @&$holes who steal stuff from people who work hard to earn what they have. I can bring my road bike down for you and we could try to get it set up for the race if you don't have another option. Keep us updated!

ETA: this site has nice filtering software for "fowl" language...

Thanks, I appreciate that. I was able to borrow a Ridley Phaeton road bike. I'm also checking out a pretty sweet deal on a used Felt B12 tomorrow. If all goes well I might have a new bike for the race!

Water temp today was 67 on the lake. Should be just about perfect conditions as long as that chance of storms pushes east by morning. Fingers crossed, see you all there!

So how did everyone do?

I swam 4 minutes faster than my race last year... but I was so dizzy coming out of the water, a firefighter stopped me to ask if I was ok. Needless to say, I had a pretty slow first half of the bike. But I powered through the hills on the return. Now, if only I were a runner. I have a lot of work to do.. but it was really fun!

Sorry if I missed a photo op... I forgot to check the thread on Friday!

I think I met you Dandy, I was the guy who swam fast too, then fell down in T-1 because I was dizzy..

I had a fantastic race, and I remembered to take my helmet off in T-1. I swam faster and "Ran/walked" faster than last year, but my bike and transition was a little slower. I can't complain, I pretty much did zero training for this one.

This was only my second tri and I did it faster than my first so I guess that's something! I pushed hard on the swim too and felt really out of breath in T1. The bike was fine but then I was out of energy on the run... starting to think it was because of the swim. Great event though, I'll try to do it again next year!

I had to share this picture of SoberTriGuy (Jerry) sprinting to the finish.  He was coming in and suddenly about 50 women starting chanting "Jerry, Jerry, Jerry."  Dude - you are such a playa!  It really caused a spring in the step!

I hope it was only his step that "sprang".

AHHH! I love it! I had been planning my finishing sprint, I started with some Walter Peyton High stepping and finished it off with a full on 270 pound Rocky Balboa sprint! I'm glad you got this picture... Thanks for posting. I really had a fun race..

Ok... who else has a little bit of the heebie geebies, knowing that Excelsior Beach is closed due to E-Coli?

I feel bad for all of the Lk Minnetonka 5 mile swimmers on Saturday! I'm glad this Tri was early in the season, despite the cold water!

Oh dear!

Did you find a list of problem beaches somewhere?  Or did you just happen to hear about this one?

There was an article in the Strib about an E.coli outbreak at Big Island over the weekend of the 4th of July. Not surprising, but I'm not sure it was all from the water...Tongue out

The triathlon made a lot of sense as I could fit the training around early mornings and other times that wouldn't eat too much into my family time. Things never go completely to plan do they?

If you are calm while everyone around you is losing it, you probably don’t know what the hell is going on.
