I was actually kind of making a joke -- Ford and Mazda are built on the same frames and, if I'm not mistaken, use the same parts from the same manufacturers in them. The Lincolns are always going to be nicer than the Mazdas, though, and the Fords. It's like the difference between staying at a five-star hotel and a three-star hotel. Subtle, but noticeable.

If I were you, Chris, I may go for a new Jeep Wrangler Unlimted Sahara with both tops and the tow package so you can tow the motorcycles you're going to buy in a few years.

After the adventures of driving to Milwaukee, I'm fully shifted over to the idea that it is time to say goodbye to the current one.

So far, I'm looking at Lincoln MKZ/Mazda 6/Ford Fusion (all the same car, different amenities & comforts).

The new Mazda6s are nice. I'm a fan of Mazdas, though, and not so much of Ford products.

I'm really digging them, myself.   I found a used 2014 (not a typo) that I can afford that I might go look at. I think it was a demo vehicle, or something.  I just have to get over my dislike of 4-cylinder engines.

No motorcycles for me... I don't trust myself on them

Me plus two-wheels tends to equal a crash at some point, hehe

Wranglers are TERRIBLE everyday cars. But fun for other stuff!
I drove one for 3 or 4 years when I had a walking commute to work.

Yeah... "good gas mileage" and "Jeep" shouldn't ever be in the same sentence.

As we both have a walking commute and the cost of having a car in this city is just silly, so we'll just keep using ZipCar until we move.

What? I was just recommending one for Chris so when he moves out of the city and buys two motorcycles he can tow them around while also having two tri bikes upright in the back. And such.

As a male, I would have to kick my own azz if I got a Mini.

A priority in the search is a vehicle where the bike can fit on the inside, however... that includes the trunk, which is partly where I keep coming back to the Lincoln.  The current car, a Grand Prix, just barely holds my bike either in the trunk or the back seat, as long as the wheels are off.

Taking the wheels off your car is probably not very efficient in getting places.

Ba-dum.

You'd look adorable in a mini!

No no. Over the many many years of TAN I've never started one. Many others are much more qualified!

But Minis are so cute!  And fun to drive as long as you get a manual transmission and the "S" version.

We're always renting either a hatchback or some sort of SUV to be able to fit the bikes inside, the allure with the jeep is that we'd be able to fit both bikes in standing up with the front forks attached to a 2x4 or something.

Your husband is a Mini. You don't want to drive another one, do you?

Actually, you'd might be OK. I'm 6'4 and fit ours very nicely. It is balls of fun to drive, even though Susan insisted we get the automatic. And it is her car. We're getting 46mpg pure highway driving.
