Pre-race routine:

TriTardy and I got there in plenty of time. I expected to find a water jug to fill up my bottles, but there weren't any. I finally found some bottled water at the last minute for my bike bottles. I hopped on the shuttle and hung with Tardy, Bruce, and Drew until the start.
Swim
  • 18m 42s
  • 1640 yards
  • 01m 08s / 100 yards
Comments:

This was a good swim today. I was feeling a little bummed after my swim at Mach Tenn, but this swim reminded me that I'm a good swimmer and only stunk it up so bad at Mach Tenn because I was in the very small minority not in a wetsuit. I passed Tardy in the water today (since he started Elite). I yelled at him and he popped his head up and said "you Jackass!"
Transition 1
  • 01m 10s
Bike
  • 1h 17m 12s
  • 24.8 miles
  • 19.27 mile/hr
Comments:

As usual tons of bikes were flying past me today. It got worse at about mile 11 when my brand new chain started skipping gears under any torque at all. I had to ride the final 13 miles in my small chain ring.
Transition 2
  • 01m 55s
Comments:

Some jerk racked his bike on top of my transition so I couldn't find my stuff. I tossed his bike on the ground.
Run
  • 53m 29s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 08m 37s  min/mile
Comments:

Very hot...I bonked. I run/walked most of the course. Mile 1 and 2 were decent at 7:30s, but were already behind my usual 7's for an Oly run. At mile 3 I was forced to walk by the heat. It went that way for the rest of the run. I'd run half a mile or so, then my stomach would get quesy and I'd have to stop and walk again.

Event comments:

Great race! Next year I won't have a sinus/upper respiratory infection, hopefully. :)

Ouch. Folks need to learn that the space immediately next to the wheel that is on the ground (and to some extent under the bike) is your transition area ... cannot believe they would put their wheel on top of your transition stuff and not expect to find their bike moved.

I know. I felt a little bad about tossing that persons bike aside, but I spent a entire minute almost looking for my stuff before I finally saw my neon green racing flats under this persons front tire. I had just dealt with that chain problem on my bike as well, so I was little on edge to start with.

Miserable run! Thank God they had those water hoses out there. I've never walked that much in a race. Mile 1 and 2 went according to plan as I ran 7:30's (actually wanted to run 7's), but somewhere between mile 2-3 that heat really hit me and I had to stop and start walking.
