I'm looking for recommendations on a bike repair stand. Are some better than others for clamping on odd shape carbon frames?
Thanks.

I personally wouldn't clamp any carbon frame. But Park does make a clamp called the 100-3d that my friend who is in the biz says is good for carbon frames with different shaped tubes. He's a materials science engineer and builds carbon frames, so I trust him pretty well on this. Giant and Bontrager (Trek) also make clamps specifically for their carbon bikes.

Be sure to only use "holding" force and not "crushing" force if you do choose to clamp your carbon frame!

ETA: If possible I would clamp the seatpost instead, if it is not carbon. But if that's carbon too, then try the options mentioned above.

Here's what I'm using. No need to worry about clamping force on any tubes.

I have this style as well. While I have used the Park stand (it's the one we have at our shop to travel to events with) I personally prefer the new Feedback Sprint stand quite a lot. Seems to be a bit better thought out to me.

Similar to trinity and Sprint_DA, I have the elite race workstand

I LOVE IT.  I sort of cringed at the price initially since there are cheaper models with the clamps or you could take a shot at a DIY stand...but I don't regret it at all.  Worth every penny IMO.

funny you should mention, I just got this for my birthday

http://www.amazon.com/Feedback-Sports-Elite-Repair-Stand/dp/B001CSP...

Honestly couldn't be happier, it is better than I could ever ask for... a great birthday gift for me since I wouldn't spend that much on myself, but after having used it (I feel safe using it on my carbon frame due to it being able to "micro"adjust the clamping mechanism), I would buy it if someone stole the one I have now or something. As it is, I will likely have it forever since it is so well constructed. I'm now trying to learn how to do all the servicing on my bike so I never have to take it to the shop (crosses fingers).

I'm actually liking the price on this compared to similar products. Now I need a subtle way to get this info to someone that cares that it's Father's Day this weekend.
