It's an awesome multifunctional watch. I do find that in indoor swimming it tends to over-count my laps (by 0-3 extra laps usually). Never had it under-count though. I should preface that by saying I'm no swimming pro so my technique is probably not excellent, which likely factors into the miscounting.

I know this is an old revived thread, but I have noticed that when I do open turns, the lap counting is pretty much perfect when I wear the watch on the hand that touches the wall. Then the only time it adds extra laps is if I have to stop in the lane for some reason.

I don't do flip turns.

It's usually short for me (kick sets, etc.). I always count distance, not lengths but if I'm not sure I'll just swim a bit extra.

I went into the pool area (as this was a pool swim) and got body marked. That's when it hit me that I was there to race - this was not a clinic.

Provided one was proficient in setting up the different functions of the Lap Track, I think that a short-course triathlete would benefit most from this, since it only records splits up to 50 laps.

Once you caught your breath, it occurred to you that finishing even a short triathlon might be harder than you thought. After a few "laps" you thought, "I can't believe I'm so out of shape."
